Pages: 1

Words: 300

Essay

According to the information cited in the Code of Federal Regulation, it appears that Title 49 ? Subtitle B ? Chapter I ? Subchapter C ? Part 172 is the most important. This particular regulation covers the rules pertaining to the hazardous materials table, special provisions, hazardous materials communications, emergency response information, training requirements, and security plans (Electronic Code of Federal Regulations, 2015). This is the most important regulation because it provides requirements regarding the protection of public and worker safety as it pertains to emergencies. An important component of effective hazardous materials transportation is ensuring that a problem could be resolved if there is a hazardous materials spill. Much of the training related to this position is awareness of what should be done during an emergency, and it is therefore important for legal procedures to be dictated, indicating the proper protocol and safety requirements.

There are many actions that drivers and other individual in the industry must take in order to be in compliance with this particular regulation. This includes insuring that emergency response information is readily available for the driver and emergency response personnel to access. Furthermore, the hazard placard must be accurate so that these individuals can gain a greater understanding of the needs that the situation calls for. Proper training to meet these guidelines also include being aware of the individual that should be called in case of the emergency and having a material safety data sheet on hand that will help the emergency team confirm the identity of the spilled chemical. Overall, safety is the most important concept with regards to regulations, which is why this is the most essential regulation to be followed.
