Essay

The video is about a presentation by Dr. Henry Lodge, M.D, who is a world-renown expert in aging and extending life. In addition, he is a best-selling author that enjoys sharing the secrets of everyone living longer each year.

Henry Lodge began the video suggesting that in your life time you can avoid the body’s decay and all but stop and eliminate over half of your illnesses that are associated with getting old. Science has new understanding of our cells and molecular genetics that allow us to live longer. This phenomenon can be accessed these cells controls by changing a single gene. Henry Lodge gave the example of Cynthia Kenyon who is in line for possibly the next Nobel Peace Prize winner found that using worms she modified one gene allowing her to extend life of the worms she named C. Elegans from 2 days to 1 month. This is the new age of genetics that have some ethical consideration but learning the secrets is just as important because the DAF-16 gene is the key to longevity in life. Today, in molecular genetics we have the foundation to suppress DAF-16 that could result in people stop aging and living up to 600 years old hypothetically.

Henry Lodge indicated he never thought he would live to see someone like Cynthia Kenyon alter a human being or worm DNA to extend life and the DAF-2 suppresses DAF-16 to allow humans to stay younger for longer periods of time.  Dr. Lodge talks about the benefits of insulin receptors that are key to living longer and they found that mice have been tested to live twice as long when these insulin receptors are regulated or changed. The easiest way to explain the value of insulin is explained by Dr. Lodge as the golden pill because the more insulin you have the more problems or illnesses you will have and die. To live longer you change the destructive diets that exist today by eating tons of starch and eating enormous amounts of foods that produce massive amounts of insulin and sugar that kills you and ages the body and mind.

Dr. Lodge suggest that American is a nation that is overeating straight to death with our daily massive generations of insulin and consumption of sugar. However, between the diet changes to live longer and the exercise, the exercise is the most important. The exercise helps the body burn the necessary calories and not constantly creating insulin. The American people understand that exercise is the key to extended life because the most fit people live longer and thy constantly exercise avoiding many health issues. The major factor that contributes to our aging and death is stress because when you are stressed you create a fair amount of adrenaline which causes the secretion of cortisol.  The secretion turns on the deadly sugar pathways that affect the insulin levels upwards and toxic to the aging process.

Dr. Lodge suggests there is no longer the thought of aging in sense in molecular genetics because they believe you can either grow or decay at the cellular level.  This means as scientist controlling the cellular level to prevent the body from decaying means longer life. Dr. Lodge suggest that choices you make every day can determine your good health by exercise, diet or the type of stress you allow into your life. The key to living longer starts with being stress free and finding a way to remove any stress from your life. However, some people will never make change because they are afraid to lose their jobs, afraid to leave a toxic relationship, afraid to complain about an overzealous boss or just a simple stressful person in your life. Dr. Lodge indicates that America is not dying they are decaying from everything in their life that is negative or toxic including binge eating that causes many different diseases. Dr. Lodge says Alzheimer’ Cancer, Hodkinson Disease, Liver Disease, Heart Disease and many more are because of the human body decaying. The primary point Dr. Lodge was trying to make is that you have the power to change your life and how your cells are working to keep you alive. The cells react based on how you feel, how you eat and definite how you respond to stress. The happy cell is long life.
