Essay

It is evident that the impacts of climate change are becoming more pronounced. Sea levels are rising and this is negatively impacting the lifestyles of many coastal communities. As artic glaciers continue to melt, this problem will progress. Ultimately, scientists have not found a way to reverse this process and current policy and research changes are being implemented to slow down the impacts of pollution on the environment. Currently, climate change is impacting even families who do not live in coastal regions. It is apparent that the weather patterns have changed significantly over the past several decades and water shortages are becoming prominent in locations with warmer climates. It is likely that these changes will affect me and my family in the years to come. Solutions to climate change will also impact the lifestyle of individuals across the world. For example, electric cars may soon replace gasoline powered cars altogether and recycling initiatives may become necessary to ensure the preservation of natural resources.

According to the IPCC report, “Human influence on the climate system is clear, and recent anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases are the highest in history” (IPCC, 2014). While climate change is a naturally occurring process, it is evident that humanity has drastically increased the rate with which global warming will occur (Kasting et al., 2002). As a consequence, the effects of this environmental impact are readily observable by people living today and it is expected that this will get worse for future generations. It is therefore necessary to bring this issue to the attention of people around the world so that the fight against greenhouse gas emissions could begin. This issue impacts people everywhere and it will thus be helpful for everyone to get involved to spread awareness and to promote possible solutions.
