War on Terror and Starting a Small Business, Essay Example

Essay

Response to “No Child Left Behind”

Although the intentions behind the “No Child Left Behind” mandate, the act itself has caused many problems with already financially taxed school systems.  NCLA standards are to ensure that children are getting the proper education they need.  Schools that have children that are falling behind are taxed if they aren’t able to bring their student’s scores up.  Schools where children are doing poorly are normally schools which are in low tax areas, so they are already struggling for funding.  Taxing these schools for student’s poor performances will not make matters any better.  Instead of fining schools for poor performance, they should get the help they need to improve their classrooms, both financially and otherwise.

Response to “Starting a Small Business”

Owning a small business is hard work.  There is much to account for, and as the boss, you are accountable.  It is important for small business owners to understand the financial risks that are possible with their business, and plan accordingly.  Schurenberg is right that a small business owner can profit greatly if they do it right.  However, sometimes the profit comes after many years of struggling.  Either way, the great benefits of being your own boss mean you have freedom to do what you want when you want, and you don’t have a boss.  Starting a business will definitely gain you much knowledge and is worth the risks.

Response to “War on Terror”

Putting people away in prisons without a trial is not a principle that America was founded on.  The war on terror is very real to the people who are sitting in jail, without a trial or access to an attorney.  They may or may not be guilty of any crime at all. It is important for America to stand up to its ideals and find a better way to deal with the suspected terrorists than to treat them in such a harsh way.
