Pages: 1

Words: 411

Essay

The Washington gun policy adopts the 8 models on public policy. These policies ascribe to the notion of continuation that depicts the policy as a progression of the already existing policies. The continuation presented by the clause in the firearms registration on any previously owned firearms portrays this concept. The process of registration of the fire arms as provided by the policy as per the provisions on the registration of fire arms held before the formulation of the policy (Paul & Ervin 56). The aims of the policy are rational as it seeks to achieve more gains of ensuring the registration of firearms. The rationality can be seen in the policies aim for ensuring the process of fire arm registration.

The policy ascribes to the policy of institutionalism where there are institutions to ensure adherence to the policies.  Enforceability of these gun policies is reliant on the metropolitan police department; therefore, the policies adopt the model of the process. According to this model the formulation legitimization and enforcement of policies must follow a process and this is contained in the Washington gun policies.

Construction of these policies founded by requirements necessitating such policy formulation and not based on the demands by the masses.  It is, therefore, imperative to note that the provisions of the policy regarding the registration of firearms in Washington target at achieving equilibrium by the use of group theory, which is a political model (Claudio 78). The aim of the gun policy is decreasing conflict in the society by use of appropriate policies on fire arms. The policy aims at attaining equilibrium through the policy implementation by creating a balance on interests on the control of guns and management of compromises arising from the possession of guns.

These policies on regulation of guns also adopt the model of public choice through the application of the policies with a consideration of the society. The grounds based on the implementation of the Washington gun policies rely on public interests and concerns.  The policy on gun regulation as provided by the policy also adopts the model of the elite theory.  According to this model the policies embraced do not follow societal desires, but rather they reflect the fundamental goals of the Washington gun policy which is ensuring proper documentation of fire arms.
