We Call Her “Cindy”, Essay Example

We call her “Cindy”; to those who know and love her, such name means more than just being a nurse. Knowing her is a blessing that has been a true source of ease for most of us, her friends and her family. My friend Cindy is someone who has been in the service for many years now; and somehow, through the years, she has proven herself more than worthy of being called an effective and compassionate nurse. When it comes to dealing with the needs of her patients, she knows that their needs come first. One thing about her is that she never leaves their side unless she knows that their needs have been fully given attention to.

Properly caring for her patient’s specific needs comes as her priority; and I had the chance to experience this personally. When I was rushed to the hospital after an accident, she made it a point that she was there right beside me even though it meant that she had to drive 50 miles after being on duty for several hours. The attention she gave me and the way he handled a supposedly complicated situation caused me to see how professional and how caring she was a nurse. This is perhaps the reason why as a subordinate, doctors highly regard her work; and as an assistant, she is highly regarded by the patients she has given particular attention to. To even improve the way she serves others, she has also become a part of the Women’s Prison Ministry, dedicating her time and effort to the more vulnerable members of the society.

Not every nurse is willing to give herself up for others; Cindy is a very distinct exception to what is considered common among nurses at present. Instead of simply following the list of duties she is expected to complete, she always goes out of her own way to make sure that the people she is to serve receive only the best; even to the point of sacrificing her own pain in order to make sure that others are feeling better. She also makes it a point that when someone needs her, including times when she is asked to pray with her patients, she does not hesitate to do so. Being a nurse is naturally in her heart; serving others and making sure that the people close to her heart are safe and are given the right attention they need especially when they undergo particular medical issues. Giving out clothes and other material things she can share to the needy is a culture that she has strongly been rooted in.

If there is one thing I have learned from Cindy and the way she handled life’s twists and turns, it was that of the fact that happiness comes from service. Upon thinking about her and her work, I always recall the saying: Be happy for what you have done, and happy for what you have overcome but most of all always be proud of what you have become with help from God above. Cindy’s capacity to serve others came from the desire of taking note of the real meaning of happiness that comes from being able to provide what others need and learning from everything that life offers as part of the opportunity of one’s adaptation to growth and maturity options. Her work, is somewhat a good source of inspiration for many, including those whom she gives specific attention to including her family and us, her friends.

I can think of no one else to fit the nomination. Cindy is not only a nurse; she is a mother, she’s a friend, she’s a nurse who never left her profession off from her heart no matter where she went. It is this natural being in her that made it possible for her to embrace a better sense of understanding the value of her worth as an individual. Most often than not, whenever I think of her; I think of a person who ought to be considered as a modern hero; one who deserves to be recognized and applauded for her work and sacrifices no matter how much she refuses the attention. I wish that her experiences and example of service would be of good reference and inspiration for others; one that would intend to make a definite mark on how she becomes indicted and practically connected to the work that has well-accounted for her being and her natural personality.
