Essay

The color we see is determined by the light absorption and reflection properties of particular objects (Crayola). The color is an important aspect of appearance of both living and non-living beings, so much that it has come to them. For example, green color often evokes images of nature while yellow color conjures images of summer. Similarly, light blue color represents cool and beige represents earthy (HP).

Colors are assumed to have deep subliminal meanings that affect our thinking and rational. They have symbolic meaning that changes among cultures and countries. For example, bright red is a symbol of good luck in China and purity in India. Green has a negative significance for packaged goods in China and France but it is a symbol of Islam in most Muslim countries. Color is also said to reflect personality types. Individuals who like bright red are said to have qualities such as optimism, aggressiveness, and energy. Those who like bright yellow may have personality traits such as cheeriness, happiness, imagination, and hope. Orange color represents fun, ambition, enthusiasm, and generosity among other things(HP).

Colors are also important part of our popular culture. We often associate our favorite teams with particular colors(DigitalSkratch). Colors have also been promoted by companies to promote their brands such as brown by United Postal Service (UPS) and green and yellow by John Deere. It is impossible to escape the role of color in our daily lives. Colors not only increase the visual appeal of different objects which is why all have personal favorites when it comes to both big purchases and everyday purchases but they also have become an important tool of communication.
