What Really Drives Healthcare Spending, Essay Example

The mission of nurses who work in the field of obstetrics is to improve and promote the women’s health as well as the health of newborns, acting as their advocates in the face of the government and other peoples who seek to strip away women’s reproductive rights, newborns, and to strengthen the nursing profession vis-a-vis the delivery of superior advocacy, education, research, and other clinical and professional resources to nurses and other health care professionals. there are vision-level goals in which women work to enhance the health of women and newborns with a cognizance to diversity and attenuated to socio-cultural idiosyncrasies. Diversity refers to a set of changing attributes that involved class, culture, age, ideologies, gender educational leve, sexual orientation, values, style, religion and other  assets that are varied. Within the nursing practice, especially nurses who immerse themselves in the field of obstetrics in socioeconomically disadvantaged locales, it is of paramount importance for the nurse practitioner to remain culturally conscious and respect diversity within the practice field. So-called “culturally competent care” must be cognizant of the cultural viewpoint of patients who are served. As such, nurses must be pliable enough to change their approach to treatment in order to provide adequate healthcare that the client renders culturally acceptable.  One important appropriation of this advocacy for diverse women is found in nurses who work at Planned Parenthood. Although political ideology and a ridiculous amount of ignorance has spawned a litany of protests by so-called pro-lifers against Planned Parenthood, it is the duty of nurses working of Planned Parenthood to put pressure o n local congressmen and women to maintain funding of Planned Parenthood due to the fact that the organization provides women with life-saving services, included mammograms and pre-cancer screenings. Moreover, teenage pregnancy has been on the rise due to the fact that young girls–especially those who come from socioeconomically disadvantaged areas. As such, with the diversity impulses, it is the prerogative of obstetric nurses to be pedagogues and advocates for their patients, especially those who are disempowered.
