What’s wrong with the Current Educational System?

What seems to be the issues surrounding poor education in America? To begin, education does not stop when the bell rings to go home. Parents must get involved! Second, teachers are not competent in many schools to administer teachings to many students. Parents are the key resources to the future of their children’s future. Have you heard that before? Well you better learn it, live it and make it happen! “Personal involvement includes parent-child communication that includes positive interactions of stressing the importance of education to the child.” (“Parental Involvement in Education”). Maintaining a consistent and positive relationship has shown to improve the relationship of the child with the teacher by as much as 55% says educational directors Schwan of Terrebonne High School (1998).

The National Education Center and Testing for Teachers is experimenting with a new code of testing and ethics to have all new teachers and existing teachers to be tested bi-annually to ensure they not only meet specifications of the state but they meet moral qualities of a traditional teacher. Who sets these standards? These standards are being set by ex-teachers, professors and parents who are presently seated on the board.

Research has shown many teachers in the private and public sector are not up to par on modern teaching skills and as a result our students are not being taught what it takes to pass standardized tests in basic subjects such as mathematics, English, reading and writing. If a child does not develop these skills at an early age they will be lost forever as they progress through school. Those that squeak by can forget about becoming successful in this world and finding the higher paid jobs and successful careers.
