What’s the next big thing? We have Facebook, Twitter, iTunes; we’ve transitioned from pixilated screens to high definition in everything, so what’s next? Nextweb says that “As much as we point fingers or talk about digital detox, our connectedness is only getting more connected with every new device, app, and network” (para. 6). The next big thing with the Digital Age will be connectedness in everyway possible. Households that are run electronically and have a “brain” (Think Ray Bradbury’s “Soft Rains” in which a house survives the apocalypse and still functions) will become realized. Governments will need to combine laws in order to account for the connectedness that’s occurring on a global and commerce scale. If we’re on the cusp of the digital age (because we’re still discovering and defining ourselves that way) then the next step would be full immersion.
