Why American Drivers Will Never Renounce Their Cars for Mass Transit Systems, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 300

Essay

Mass transit system has been a challenge in the American automobile and transport sector. This has lead to an increase in private transportation system. American drivers have then opted not to renounce their cars for the mass transit system. It is coupled with the challenge of mass waiting for the mass transport. The element of queuing and waiting around for the public and mass transport system has forced the drivers to stick to private vehicles.

There is the component of encounters with strangers on a daily basis a factor that is commonly associated with the mass transport system in America. This also creates some discomfort and the private system has offered a better solution in terms of their comfort and limiting chances of rubbing up with strangers. There is the problem of walking on either ends of the transit either to get to the mass transit stations or peoples destination after disembarking from this transit system. This has been a factor of consideration by the American drivers in preference to their cars.

The drivers find difficult to sacrifice their independence and relay on the public or mass transit systems. They would not choose to sacrifice the independent privileges and freedom they experience in their cars. Private cars also ensure privacy and conveniences of the American drivers. They would move with ease to destinations of their choices and at varied times without necessarily waiting.

The issue of security has also enhanced concern such that American prizes their cars than the mass transit system. Even the development of personal rapid transport system like the use of pod cars has not achieved much success. The use of mass transit system has been the frequent target of the political violence and even rising cases of terrorism that is predominant in mass transit systems like the railway transport.
