Why Are Teachers in Africa Involved in Politics? Research Paper Example

Pages: 1

Words: 304

Research Paper

Although not prevalent in the whole territories of Africa, it could be realized that government control plays a great role on the manner by which the society functions. With regards this particular issue, teachers are among the ones highly affected by such system of governance. Hence, to make sure that they get the salary they are due, many teachers engage in party politics where they fully support the agendas of particular parties and campaign for them during the election periods. The political sector of the nation believes so much on the influence that teachers have not only towards their students but also to the whole society as well. It could be analyzed that at some point, the condition of working process the teachers take into account is affected largely by the political schedules of officers in the community. Being obliged to show their support to the parties they are engaged in, there are instances when the teachers are not able to see the reality behind their work and its real value especially when it comes to serving the values of the public and their need for educational advancement.

The teachers believe that if they are loyal to the political parties they support, they might be given better chances of receiving better incentives from the government thus improving their ways of living. When they are not given such attention, there are instances when the teachers are not able to get the motivation they need to improve their performance; as a result, the students suffer from such situations thus rendering the educational system in the country rather weak and specifically ineffective when it comes to equipping the young ones with the proper behavior they need and the proper perception they hope to incur especially in relation to the possibilities of improving their opportunities towards a better life.
