Introduction

Health information technologies support the growth and development of the practicea environment, but require a level of privacy to ensure that patient information is kept confidential at all times and safe from unauthorized access. HIPAA compliance is a critical component of modern healthcare systems and requires expert knowledge to ensure that healthcare organizations possess the required certifications and accreditation to practice successfully.

Body

In performing a Google search for health care accreditation, I discovered several websites, including the Accreditation Commission for Healthcare, The Joint Commission, and the Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program, all of which discuss accreditation in different forms and provide information regarding these tools as part of a larger strategy to improve accreditation standards for healthcare organizations. In searching for health care certification, I discovered the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), the National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHQ), and the American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management. Each of these websites provides information regarding certifications and accreditation related to health information technologies and the importance of developing a knowledge base to accommodate these requirements to improve an organization’s reputation and focus on high quality standards related to data management and information technologies at all levels.

Conclusion

Health information technologies require expert knowledge and resources in order to accomplish the intended objectives related to data integrity and privacy. Therefore, tools and resources must be available to protect patient data and information from unauthorized breaches and other disruptions that could contribute to negative outcomes. An organization’s reputation must be protected at all times through the development of a framework that supports the required accreditation and certifications that will have a positive impact on an organization and its intent to improve data management and to protect privacy as best as possible.
