Why I Want to Work at Delray Medical Center, Essay Example

Pages: 3

Words: 698

Essay

I am a nurse, I suppose, for the same reason that most people go into the field of nursing. I want to help people. This feeling stirred inside of me when I took care of my mother after she suffered a debilitating stoke. Also, I have an academic background in psychology and a few other instances in patient care that seem to support my interest in nursing as a career. I know who I am as a nurse, and I know a lot about Delray Medical Center. Working at Delray Medical Center would be a good move for me, professionally, because I have read reviews on it from independent news sources, and it is one of the best research medical centers in Florida.

I am looking for place to work where my skills can unite with an institution that offers multiple, quality services to the community. Of particular interest to me are indigent care, emergency room expertise, neonatal intensive care, and open heart surgical center operations. Such features in a hospital provide for people who are in life-threatening situations. Not all communities are fortunate to have these kinds of healthcare services. A careful investigation of Delray Medical Center shows that it has all of the enhanced services that appeal to me. In fact, it has a plethora of services that most people would not even think that a hospital in a non-metropolitan area would have. Delray not only enjoys regional success, it promotes growth and does not rest on its current successes as a leader in the field of healthcare.

I have been to Delray Medical Center. I have been there to visit patients (friends/relatives), and I visited to tour its excellent facilities. I have been impressed with the professional appearance of its operations and the courteous demeanor of its staff. It is no wonder that it ranks as one of the top fifty medical centers in the country (HealthGrades). Delray offers a comprehensive employment package to its employees. Working there would mean that I could have medical and dental insurance, employer-matched savings for retirement, paid vacations, and a sick leave bank. Currently, I do not have access to all of these features. I have spoken, in person, with the Human Services Department of Delray, and the people there have been helpful to me, as they have explained the application and interview processes that applicants move through in order acquire a position there.

Delray Medical Center is the best choice for me, because it offers the best working environment. It is not a large hospital, proving that a hospital does not have to be huge to be efficient and effective (Delray Medical Center). It insists on maintaining a staff that is productive and caring, and these are the traits that I hold myself accountable for in my work as a nurse. I am good at multi-tasking in a caring and challenging environment. I am a registered nurse who does what she does because for a passion for the profession. These and other personal qualities bode well for success at Delray. My observations and analyses inform me that the Delray Medical Center is the best of its kind in the area. The ways in which it gives back to the community it serves with its educational programs is commendable. Its outpatient and support services promote the brand of good health that is essential in order for society to be productive and happy. Working with the staff at Delray Medical Center would allow me to work in a challenging environment that would offer me incentives to advance in my chosen profession in a community that is dedicated to helping to achieve positive social change.

I really look forward to continued dialogue with Delray so that I can have the opportunity to prove myself and make a change in my job. I am highly motivated, enthusiastic, and ready to contribute effectively in all my duties. Given an opportunity to work with Delray Medical Center, would be a lifetime opportunity for me. This would be an excellent place to start my career.
