Will Linebox Sell Out, Essay Example

Essay

Is too much money ever a bad thing?  Glasser Woodman, CEO of Glutko, the powerful joint stock media corporation responsible for the mass production of top grossing films in 2008, thinks not, as Glukto, as of last week, has attempted to assume total control of the small, regional company Linebox, Inc., known throughout small, Midwestern cities for producing animated films.

“Linebox, Inc. was bleeding from the throat” Woodman stated at a press conference held last Monday, “and we at Glutko think the time is ripe to dig them out from their economic funk, yes, through a buyout”  Woodman went on that week to explain that though Linebox was making fair amounts in the Midwest, its revenue was almost nonexistent elsewhere.

The joint stock company Glutko was formed in 1982 when Woodman and his then-partner Emil Dietrich began to obtain the rights to old independent films that had no living owners: Dietrich and Woodman kept large stocks of the company’s for themselves and ran an equal partnership until 1993 when Dietrich had passed away, leaving Woodman to reconfigure Glutko from a partnership to a sole proprietary organization, with no other figureheads running the company, run by Woodman himself.

Linebox, Inc. was purchased, according to Woodman, because, apart from its regional success, its CEO, Dorian Fournier, appears, to Woodman to have impeccable leadership skills.  Woodman was quoted as saying that the proposed buyout does not occur, Glutko would form a limited liability company with Linebox, allowing both heads of their respective companies control over their own companies while, more or less, working under the same banner in that both companies would form a partnership, working in tandem and essentially sharing profits.
