Scenario
The organization is the most significant employer in the municipal area. There are 43,000 staff members in the organization who influence local traffic. A collection of municipal and county administrators have provided the CEO with a proposal to decrease the influence of the organization{s staff on the local traffic. The department has been delegated the endeavor of evaluating the transportation routines of the organization’s staff.
Recommendations
One recommendation is to establish flexible working shift times. If the employees perceive that they will not be penalized for arriving several minutes late, they may be encouraged to carpool with other employees. In addition, the establishment of a carpool staff which administrates the economic incentives offered to employees who carpool would be advisable. An additional motive would be to facilitate the employees working a few extra minutes or half an hour in order to compensate for time lost during the carpooling commute. In addition, the use of bulletin boards for the carpool participants is another incentive. If the employees are well informed, they are likely to include carpooling with greater frequency as a component of their transportation routine (State of Oregon 1).
Studies have shown that for every dollar that is invested in the public transportation infrastructure, local businesses are able to realized three dollars in increased sales and productivity. Public transportation systems not only have the quality of enabling to maintain employment positions, they help the local organizations to realize greater ´profits and savings. Increased access to public transportation has been found to increase the productivity of an organization’s employees and decrease employee turnover and absenteeism. It is beneficial for business and their employees to increase the quality of the public transportation system (APTA 4).
The municipal transit systems function effectively on the densely concentrated zone of a city’s development. These categories of systems which have the propensity of being focused on the downtown areas are pr3exsently performing a deficient function of providing service to diverse voyage destinations and origins. The modal uses have tended strongly towards the use of automobiles that the benefits from increased mobility in the transit system have not been consider3ed. Research has demonstrated that there is a causal relationship between employee efficiency and enhancements of the public transit systems (Sanchez 5). The respondents composed a 41% group in the workforce who rarely or never used public transportation.
Studies have demonstrated that the employees of an organization do not perceive that they will be granted similar distributive justice from administrators in the workplace if they participate in telecommuting programs in the workplace. . In addition, many of the employees have preoccupations with regards to the level of procedural justice that they will receive in participating in organizational telecommuting programs. The employees have also been shown to be preoccupied with the levels of interactional justice that they will receive in telecommuting programs. Research has demonstrated that the employees who participate in the organizational telecomm uniting programs are treated with respect and fairness and have the option of providing input towards the procedures which impact them (Egan 4).
