Working Pace, Essay Example

Essay

Descriptive

The workdays are at times so exhausting that even the best, rewarding work yielding positive, satisfying results can become the unwanted result. When the exertion comes to its climax it is surely necessary to get distracted from everything that you do for a living and to do something for yourself, for pleasure and for spiritual harmony. All people have to have places where they feel calm, where they can get their thoughts and feelings together and forget about all the fuss surrounding them in their daily life.

Personally, I do have such a pace – it is a lake near the city in which I live. I do not have any summer house there and I do not need any comfort. I simply come to the shore and sit thinking about life, about things that worry me. If I have a couple of free hours I always try to use this opportunity and to come there, either with my friends or alone. The place is not far from the city and it is rather easy to get there, so we never experience any hardships with the way there and back. The lawns situated there are good for playing games like volleyball or football, the fresh trees give the shadow in which it is pleasant to relax and enjoy natural sounds that give relief and relaxation.

All friends of mine have already got attached to this picturesque and pleasant place – we visit the lake every weekend and celebrate all holidays there if the weather affords. Surely, there is much beauty in the world that everyone has to be able to appreciate, but I have already found the place for my soul, and I hope that others are as lucky as I am.

Narrative

Last weekend my friends and I decided not to change our traditions and gathered near my house to visit the lake nearby. It is the place we all love because it brings incomparable relaxation and harmony to our minds and souls and lets us relax before the new working week. So, after a short discussion we have arranged to have a BBQ in the open air near the water and arranged the list of purchases to be made in the nearest supermarket.

I was responsible for vegetables, so I decided to add useful and natural food to our picnic, resembling the care and beauty of nature we were enjoying at the lake, so I changed my mind and went not to the shop but to the market where gardeners offered ecologically safe, home-grown vegetables and fruit. Satisfied with my purchases, I got back home and gathered all necessary things for the picnic. I took warm clothes in case the weather would spoil, and made the sandwiches for the beginning of our party that would be quickly eaten before the BBQ. As our joint experience showed, nobody was able to wait for the BBQ because of the outdoor games and fresh air instigating appetite, so I decided to foresee such a situation.

Having everything arranged, I called my friends that had to pick me up near my house. They were also ready and promised to come soon. So I took my bags outside and sat on the bench, inspired and thrilled by the upcoming active and useful day off that was waiting for us outside the city.
