World War Leader, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 287

Essay

In the light of economic tragedy, Franklin Roosevelt effectively demonstrated his abilities as the leader of the United States. When he was elected to office, he recognized that it would be important for him to act quickly and with certainty in order to reverse the poverty that citizens across the country were facing due to the stock market crash. Because of his intelligence and bravery, he implemented the New Deal in order to save the American people. As a consequence, Franklin Roosevelt shows us that the most important trait that a leader could have is the ability to act with confidence, as this confidence is what reassured the American people that his plan would work and eventually, they as individuals and as a country would be okay.

While the New Deal took several years to show an economic effect on the country, Roosevelt’s leadership make the American people feel that their continued involvement in New Deal efforts would allow the country to return back to its former glory. Because he was able to act with confidence, he was truly able to lead the American people to a restored nation that allowed every individual to enjoy wealth that they had not been able to experience for approximately a decade. While Roosevelt was a smart and quick acting individual, it was his confidence that allowed him to be successful.

In conclusion, confidence is the most important trait that a leader could have because it convinces individuals to follow them. Without confidence, Roosevelt wouldn’t have been able to gain support of his people. However, using this confidence, he was able to overturn the economic issues of the United States and return it back to being the strong nation that it once was.
