Wound Care Management, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 353

Essay

Problem: Wound care management is a complex set of circumstances with many variables. How does negative pressure wound therapy, for example, improve wound care, management, and overall healing for patients, and does it have an advantage over traditional wound therapies? This is a critical problem for consideration in wound management because it requires an understanding of the dynamics of how wounds respond to different types of treatment in different contexts.

Intervention: The proposed intervention will evaluate negative pressure wound therapy in support of patients with larger and more complex wounds that require ongoing treatment for longer periods of time and will consider this process against traditional therapies that are designed to treat wounds (Ousey, Milne, Cook, Stephenson, & Gillibrand, 2014). Negative pressure wound therapy is likely to influence quality of life for some patients and will determine if patients are able to recover at a faster rate than with traditional therapies, given the context of these differences.

Comparison: Negative wound pressure therapy will be evaluated against traditional wound care management strategies in order to determine if the former is a more effective means of improving healing for complex wounds. In addition, the cost effectiveness of this intervention must be examined with respect to traditional therapies in order to determine the best possible approaches that will have lasting results for patients (Othman, 2012).

Outcome: It is possible that negative pressure wound therapy will be an effective alternative to traditional methods in some situations where patients have more complex wounds and/or have not responded effectively to traditional therapies in the past. This will ensure that patients receive the best possible treatment for their specific condition in a manner that is consistent with healing and recovery.
