Year 2016 Deployment Concerns, Essay Example

Pages: 3

Words: 840

Essay

I recently reviewed the e-mail regarding the 2016 deployment, indicating that the levels that I am expected to teach include P5L, PFCL, and P4CCE. However, I believe that this assignment contradicts my personal abilities and career goals. Due to my physical condition, I need to reject this proposal for deployment.

If favorable, I would prefer to continue working my current position because it will allow me to continue to grow professionally and to continue providing aid to my students in a manner that will help me promote their personal growth as well. Furthermore, I believe that the request assignment is problematic with regards to my current health. I am pleased that I am in your employment, but I do not believe that I have the energy to properly engage with the deployment I was assigned. I therefore humbly request that I can be permitted to continue my involvement with P1-P2 students, whom I believe I was able to greatly benefit during the time that I spent with them.

Based on my previous experiences, I believe that not only am I better fit for teaching P1-P2 students, my doctor also recommends that due to my health state, this would be ideal. I have a heart condition and while I love children, the children in P3-P6 are very youthful and energetic, and I therefore believe that I would not be able to keep up with them. I worry that my health will be impacted as a consequence of my need to constantly exert an equal level of energy in the classroom to keep them occupied and to ensure that they are provided with the level of energy necessary to thrive in the classroom setting. At the beginning of this year, after teaching P5J students for a week, a disease that I had previously struggled with recurred, also contributing to a skin allergy problem. Fortunately, through communicating with my students and their parents, I was able to adapt. I have done the same for the P4 class, however, I believe that teaching more energetic children may not be conducive to my health.

It is challenging for me to issue this report because I love all children and I do have strong connections with many of the brilliant minds present in P5J. I have worked hard to teach them in spite of their high activity levels, and have found that they are thoughtful and sensible, a lot of things they have done throughout the year have been very touching. However, I humbly request that I be permitted to continue teaching my previous two classes. Not only would doing so be better for my health, I have grown close to them in a manner that helps me understand their strengths and weaknesses. I believe that I would be able to use these skills to help them effectively achieve good results on the PSLE. Furthermore, I have contacted my psychologist to determine what his recommendations are, given this situation. Even though he is on a holiday, he responded to my inquiry and provided me with a useful recommendation from a medical point of view. He suggested that it is important for me to get along with the familiar parents and pupils, in order to avoid the anxiety that I face when being presented with new classes and new students. I intend to continue to build relationships with my students and my parents as a consequence, but it would be more effective for me to build upon relationships that are already existing. Furthermore, doing so will build the ability for parents to contact me about any concerns, thereby helping my students stay on top of all of their school work, and helping them achieve higher marks. I was told that if my disease becomes aggravated, it is possible that my symptoms can contribute to a loss of life. While this appears extreme, I want to continue doing what is best for my students and best for my health, which is why I bring this request to you so urgently. I will be able to provide a detailed report from my physicians with regards to my health concerns if this is deemed necessary. The doctor will mail this information to you or MOE if needed. I am unfortunately faced with a conflict that I hope to resolve for the sake of my students.

I have been given permission by my physician to continue working, but it is recommended that I do so with restrictions. Full-time work will not be problematic, and will aid in my ability to advance with my doctoral degree. While I am faced with many health challenges, I am prepared to do the work that is necessary to help my students. I hope that you will be able to consider my request, as I believe that it would be valuable for me to continue teaching the same students. I will continue dedicating my time to their betterment and I know that I will be able to do so even more effectively if my concerns regarding my health are alleviated.
