Intervention approaches involving the needs of Zuni Pueblo American Indians community that aims at achieving effective implementation of health promotion programs are a necessary requirement. This will facilitate in influencing modifications in their lifestyles and offer sufficient knowledge pertaining to the significance of adopting strategies for encouraging regular exercise together with health feeding choices. This important development necessitated for multiple discussions involving groups of people where program development served as an important platform for discussions on community needs, disparities in focus, the potential challenges facing implementation of these programs, the relevant strategies that can be adopted to overcome the barriers as well as the right procedures for sharing and disseminating the information to the greatest number of people in the community (Grugel, 2012).
There is an already a process involving recurrent evaluations that is in progress whose ultimate objective is collection of data that will facilitate in evaluation of the potential shortcomings that are associated with the program. This process also posits to reevaluate the strategies that will facilitate development of effective programs that can efficiently address the needs of the community.
According to Green & Tones, 2010, evaluations have crucial role to play in the process of planning as they are the catalyst for a continuous opportunity to stay ahead in progress as well as the relevant modifications. The application of a variety of evaluation in diverse phases in the implementation of the program serves as an avenue of reflection of the needs of the community as well as the vital strategies that facilitate affectively addressing community needs that are gathered in a process of gathered feedback.
The process of planning is associated with multiple opportunities at the stage of development as well as implementation of the programs involving health promotion to the Zuni Pueblo American Indians community. This is a vital catalyst of continuous communication as well as collaborative efforts to enhance effectiveness. Selection of a designated organizer was paramount in the group for effective development of the program, its implementation, evaluation as well as modification.
The role of the organizer entails reduction of confusion and maintenance of organized information. The organizer was empowered to reach all community individuals including the stakeholders, universities, hospitals, colleges as well as clinics to recruit and also organize lasses for specific volunteers and exact dates for class attendance.
Another responsibility of organizers was to ensure accessibility of billboards, flyers, newspapers adverts, posters as well as any other multimedia to ascertain accessibility of information pertaining to actual location and schedule of the classes. Equally important were the class venues in which case the suitability of the building and environment with regard to learning were ascertained (Grugel, 2012).
Formative Evaluation
The use of formative evaluation is to facilitate for an opportunity of evaluating the needs as well as the appropriate approaches applicable in addressing Zuni Pueblo American Indians community needs in the process of development as well as implementation phases in the program. This facilitates maximization of potentials of addressing associated goals (Green & Tones, 2010).
Performance of formative evaluation involved several stages in the development of the program with the use of a number of group communication. The survey posits to evaluate their experience, evaluate the knowledge obtained and offer suggestions for future improvements. The information gathered was vital in program modification so that the goals can be effectively addressed and assist the community in the adoption of regular exercises and incorporate healthy feeding habits in their daily routines. The most affected groups were encouraged to adopt changes and volunteers were encouraged to be active in class attendance to offer relevant strategies for improving teaching.
