A Solution to Gun Violence, Research Paper Example

Pages: 1

Words: 370

Research Paper

The issue of gun violence is not only an issue affecting America but also affects diverse parts of the globe that allow their citizens to own firearms. The point of gun viciousness is affected by various aspects of society, including suicide, interpersonal conflicts, and rampage shootings that have proved to be a surging national crisis in America. Addressing the issue of gun mishandling and violence has been a priority by the Federal authorities of America. First, the government needs to develop detailed and strict policies governing the legal process of obtaining a gun (Gregory & Wilson, 2018). This means that before an individual I issued a gun, they need to pass some psychological tests to avoid future violence influenced by poor mental states (Gregory & Wilson, 2018). The government also needs to engage firearm dealers and provide policies that insist on the safe marketing and sales of firearms. This means firearm dealers must take the buyer’s credentials and ensure they are of the legal age to purchase and own a gun. The government also needs to ensure that firearm dealers are licensed by the firearm agencies to curb the sale of unlicensed firearms (Prevention Institute, 2018).  The government also needs to put up with dire consequences and punishment for gun violence culprits. This means that individuals arrested for gun violence are charged with capital offenses. This will reduce the urge to misuse a gun by the citizens. The government must also involve community-based organizations in educating the public on the dangers of gun violence (Prevention Institute, 2018). The community-based organizations will also be mandated to report any case or suspect leading to gun violence to the authorities. Community organizations also need mental health support, especially for individuals from low-income families and poverty-stricken areas (Prevention Institute, 2018). The issue of firearm violence will only be dealt with if the government implements policies and regulations that will ensure firearm safety education across the country.
