Introduction

ATIC is a highly successful company within the UAE, which has recently expanded its operations to Germany. Singapore, USA and the United Arab Emirates. Starting as a small corporation and supported by the government initiatives now has eight different manufacturing plants, within the semiconductor industry. The company focuses on corporate values and communicates strong visions and values with colleagues across the corporation. The below review would analyze some of the competitive advantages and challenges ahead of ATIC.

Strategic question: “Creating a productive and positive culture can be a competitive advantage but this requires value indoctrination. What are the values you think that the Human Capital department should work hard towards creating in Feb 9?”

One of the company’s core assets is human capitak, and in order to create a competitive advantage in the developing market, the company has many opportunities. Human capital management is aware that the availability of highly skilled professionals in the industry within the UAE is high, and these employees can be targeted by training, development and career opportunities, as well as higher than average wages. Apart from developing further projects attracting talent, such as internships, in-school cooperative programs and polytechnics in Germany. However, attracting talent is only one aspect of human resources success. From Feb 9, the company should focus on the development of internal recognition systems, as well as creating valuable career opportunities, in order to be able to keep highly skilled staff. Creating an advanced technology community within the countries the company is present, especially in Abu Dhabi, cooperating with educational institutions as well as the government would create a strong company value and a clear mission for stakeholders.

Course of Action

Ad one of the main targets of the ATIC Corporation is to position the UAE in the Middle East and create a positive image of the knowledge assets within the country, as well as the investment opportunties, the company should focus on not only the technology and innovation, but knowledge management aspects as well, directly benefiting stakeholders, employees, and creating an image of a responsible, reliable and stable company. In order to create a strategic plan, the company needs to answer the following questions:

  • Where are we now?
  • Where do we want to be?
  • How do we get there?

The company has a strong position on the market, and thanks to the successful investments and the initiatives to exploit talent, out of the three core values, the most important role would be given to collaboration and communication. The company can achieve its goal to expand its operation and increase the industrial reputation of the country by engaging researchers to take part in different projects and get involved in social responsibility initiatives. Create a clear vision for the company; determining the core values, directions and development areas. As the main challenges of the company are the lack of regulation and research initiatives, resources, it is advisable that the company would work on projects that engage communication, discussion, innovation, as well as the promotion of the core values of the organization.

Rationale / Conclusion

As the UAE has a high capacity for innovation, and the company is able to create competitive employee packages with high wages and training, there are many opportunities ahead of the ATIC corporation. As the majority of workforce joining the company would be inexperienced fresh graduates, enhanced training schemes and packages would be beneficial for both the company and stakeholders. Taking into consideration the number of workforce needed to carry out projects, the multi-prong method needs to be further developed.
