Essay

Introduction

Air gases have been a major problem when it comes on how it can be conserved. Pollution for instance has been through human activities and self decomposition causing complicated mixture of air gases.

Components of Air

Air is mixture of gases that are odorless and invisible hence circle around the earth. It is a precious resource that is granted with every living thing therefore it is essential to our bodies and without it, we can not survive. Air makes up earths atmosphere. It consists of about 78% of Nitrogen, 21% Oxygen, 0.9% Argon, 0.03% carbon (IV) oxide gases along with molecules of water. As atmosphere extends higher, air becomes thinner and this results into changes in gases combination. Air is essential for human beings since an Adult person takes about 10-20 cubic meters of air every day as compared to children who takes up twice that amount of adults persons because of their high respiration( Keenan & et al, 23-34).

Atmosphere has been regarded as a mixture of gases surrounding earth. It contains wind, the air we breathe, clouds in the sky and rain. It retains and block out harmful rays (ultraviolet radiation) from the sun. It is about 1000 kilometers thick made up of invisible layers that rotate the planet. It is also made up of two important layers. The first layer is called Troposphere that provides life for human beings since most of the air is found here. It is followed by Stratosphere through trapopause which contains Ozone layer, where Ozone depleting substances and green house gases are deposited (Keenan & et al, 41-50).

Gases pollution in the Air

Poisonous gases present in the air bring about air pollution. First and fore most, we have emissions from vehicles and industries that wreak air. Intensity of air pollution varies depending on the temperature therefore rain and snow can affects air quality by reducing air dust, sulphur (IV) oxide and Nitrogen (IV) oxide. The colder the weather, the more the air pollution we face. Apart from emission of vehicles as human activities, we also have burning of coal and other fossils fuel as well.

Natural phenomena such as volcanoes, aerosols emitted by the ocean and decomposition of plants and animals pollute the air. Air pollutant can be considered as environmental effects such as health or welfare that is measurable. Pollutant can also be classified as primary or secondary pollutants. In primary pollutant, air gases are omitted directly from the source and retains same chemical such as ash which is produced by burning of solid waste. In secondary pollutant, air gases are formed by atmospheric reactions hence undergoes chemical change as they reach the atmosphere. An example of secondary pollutant includes an ozone created from organic vapor given off at a gasoline control. We also have hazardous air pollutants that are known to cause cancer or other serious health such as reproductive effects or both and adverse environmental effects (Keenan & et al, 53-66).

Conclusion

All in all, as far as pollution is concerned, Air gases are considered as a threat to human being but also have its positive impacts on human being. Ozone, a gas that is formed is absorbed to the stratosphere to form ozone layer that protects human being from harmful rays known as ultraviolet radiations. More so, with increased humanities, the quality of air today is at stake because of the poisonous gases that pollute the environment.
