Introduction

This paper is based on the topic of finding alternative modes of transport to reduce the congestion of traffic. The part I am going to cover is the transportation mode of Cycling and it benefits in reducing the congestion of traffic. The vastness of the Bay Area when taking into account needs an alternative mode of transportation because of the increased congestion of traffic. So, the most efficient of these modes is cycling for all those who wants to commute. On the other hand, there are other modes of transportation than car which are bus and trains. The reason to use this because cycling may not be feasible all the time. My part of the presentation and report will look at the benefits of using cycling as the mode of transportation.

Advantages of Cycling

There are immense benefits for supporting and establishing a method of alternative for transportation for the commuters. The first benefit is the healthy advantage linked with cycling. Cycling helps in enhancing and developing the cardiac muscles. In increases the rate of heart which leads to the increase in stamina. According to the Association of British Medical, “Cycling for just a week for 20 miles can limit the risk of heart disease which is coronary by 50%. In this study the majority of the civil servants suggested that those cycling for more than 20 miles over or more than a week are less likely to suffer the disease of heart in comparison to the non-cycling counterparts.”

There are some commuters that try something known as sharing of bike. This proves help the people to work together in purchasing a bike jointly. This is the alternate way to go to work. There are many indicators of environment linked with the alternative methods of transportation. One study shows that it takes around 5% of the materials to produce a bicycle as comparison to a car. Bikes can be used in any season and are efficient without the consumption of gas. A person using a bike can travel equivalent to miles 2,924 on one gallon. The mode of cycling is pollution free and is the best transportation that limits the need for car. It doesn’t require service or disposal.

In the cities which are major like Bay area, the traffic congestion and delays lead to about consumption of 13 million greenhouse gas annually. Moreover, the peak hours cycling can reduce the major frustration and the traffic congestion. When people drive cycle than car there can be more space for greenery. There are numerous benefits economically as well for cycling. One is that the major household expense is transportation with food being the initial one. Cycling helps in reduction of transportation expenses and it is less cheap than maintaining and operating a car. Only 2 trips daily can have an astronomical impact on the trip each month. When the cycling method is chosen, the space of residence is conserved because of the roadways decreasing need.

Conclusion

The area of Bay, California is a battle to be fought for each person because the commuters have to fight to reach to the work. Instead of this congestion, they need to try alternative routes to limit the traffic. Cycling and bike will play a crucial role in limiting the traffic congestion in this area. The main problem is that commuters ignore the issue that cars are creating serious environmental concern. There needs to be an ordinance that reduces the emissions caused by car smog. In short, cycling is more environmentally and ecofriendly which allows the non-motorized use of vehicles and walking to work. By trying different alternatives of transportation, the smog and traffic congestion can be reduced greatly.
