Corporate Special Interest Groups and American Politics

Corporate special interest groups are organizations of people with similar objectives with the purpose of focusing of their concerns. The formation and existence have significantly influenced various state organs in the United States of America. Distinctive is the reasons why their influence has worked to enhance American political processes.

These groups lay loyalty to a party, which they deem a friendly to their interests. During the election, they make a political contribution through its Political Action Committees (PACs) in aid of the party’s campaign. When this party wins, the interest groups get closely involved in policymaking. The party will strive to champion the interest of such groups. Groups in America such as National Association of Manufacturing bring resources, which promote political goals.

These groups lobby towards attainment of interest from state authorities. They mobilize public opinion and voters to pressurize elected officials. Through lobbying, they make the lawmakers aware of their problems as well as educate political populace. They vehicles through which American citizens make their ideas needs and views known. Politicians will thus conduct themselves with the intention of meeting the desires of the Americans. Through this, they shape Republican and Democratic Party platforms.

Corporate special interest groups also engage themselves in national and regional advertising campaigns to popularize their views on government policies. This will influence the scope of government since it will try to embrace their positive views. For example, recommendation of the U.S chamber of commerce may be adopted to promote trade. Politicians fear anti business policies, which may hinder the country’s economic development. Candidates with same desires with these groups will receive backing from the group. They may even encourage their members to campaign for the preferred candidate thus influencing the political process.

It is conclusive that corporate special interest groups have contributed in shaping the American political processes. This owes to the fact that any political processes should put the interest of the American people first. These groups through political contribution, lobbying, and advertisement has able to shape the American politics. They are thus able to connect the electorate and the political elect.
