Research Paper

The application of RFID technology in reverse logistics has the potential to track value, warranty and routing status, handle dealers and contractors and drive efficiency in the repair process.

What is my goal in this paper?

My goal is investigating how costs could be reduced and the problems characterizing revvese logistics (1) tracking value, 2) tracking warranty and routing status, 3) handling dealers and contractors, and 4) driving efficiency in the repair process (Bonev,  47) can be resolved.

What do you already know about my topic?

I already know that managers repeatedly encounter the constant challenge of ensuring mitigated costs that result from the process of reverse logistics. This process is usually considerably disorganized when compared to forward logistics.

What do my readers already know?

RFID technology has increasingly been used in the past five years in many facets of logistics, recording positive trends in performance for most organizations or businesses. Steep increases in cost have reduced accessibility to the product.

What do my readers need to know to understand my point?

My readers need to know and understand the point I am making because it would influence how they accept solutions towards development of a system architecture that is capable of integrating RFID technology into existing reverse logistics systems for businesses.

What information do I need to research and add to my paper?

The information needed pertain to results of a survey investigating how TLM could control costs to make RFID technology more affordable and still make profits. It is also hoped that from this research TLM would receive an idea of how much customers are willing to pay for the service.
