Without a doubt, I believe that in order for an author to be extremely influential in his or her writing, he or she must have experienced something viral throughout his or her life in order to convey an imperative message. For example, if you take the life of Anne Frank and the book she wrote afterwards, her book was regarded as a holy grail of the experiences that individuals had to undergo when they were being persecuted by the Nazis. There are countless books about Nazi Germany and the kind of impact that this had on the world, but seldom times do these books ever become more popular than Anne Frank’s book. Why? Because she experienced that things she was living at the time. There is a huge difference between talking about events that have taken place in the past as opposed to actually being part of the events that took place and being able to discuss the kind of impact they had on your life.
Of course, there are a variety of exceptions to this rule. For example, Emily Dickinson is considered the mother of American poetry, and she is said to have lived a life of solitude and quietness. but even then, perhaps it was the peaceful life that she lived that allowed her to take in the world’s message and write it down via her own thoughts. While it may be confusing at first, it is certainly valid to say that an author’s experiences directly influence the kind of writing that they are able to produce.
It is often heard that as you grow older, you grow wiser. This is one of the many reasons that people say that you should respect your elders. With this in mind, an author who is older is often times wiser as well because of everything that the author has been able to go through. Now, this is not saying that an author who has not being through a variety of difficult experiences throughout the course of his or her life with be a bad author, but it is indeed more commonly seen that the author who suffer the most or who are able to have a variety of life experiences are the ones who are able to make a lasting impact through their writing. This kind of phenomenon has been the case in almost all of the books that transcend through time.
What must be understood is that there are some books that only popular for a certain period in time and there are other books that will always be popular no matter what. For example, an example of a book that has only been popular for a certain period of time can be “Fifty Shades of Grey” by E. L. James. This book was widely popular across the United States during the time period in which the movie, based on the novel, came out. However, after some time, both the movie and the novel were no longer discussed at length. On the other hand, a great example of a book that has been able to transcend time is the Bible. This book, put together by a variety of authors, has been able to make it to the time period in which we live in today because of the amazing things that the authors were able to experience. Not only that, but individuals refer to the book multiple times in order to gain more knowledge about their religion and to be able to understand the world around them in a deeper way. Because of this, it goes without saying that anyone can be a great author with enough experience, but what sets apart a great author from an exemplary author is the manner by which he or she has had to deal with certain life experiences.
