Another Productive Day, Essay Example

Today was another productive day. I found out I will be managing three new groups. At first I was skeptical and a bit nervous but I soon regained confidence I have been doing a good job so far and this additional responsible is a sign of confidence in me by my superiors. My main challenge is now to influence other group leaders to engage with the planning process. On my part, I always try to make sure I come prepared.

A significant thing happened today. The residents have a socialization group which was supposed to visit Morristown Green Park. Everyone with the exception of two people agreed. One explained his refusal was due to fear of stigma that results from being part of the group. His argument influenced two other members as well who claimed they would prefer community over the park. The staff supported their decision out of respect because this can help them integrate into the community and help them live independently. In my opinion, the staff honored one of the principles and values of psychiatric rehabilitation which is to convey hope and respect as well as reaffirm the fact that all individuals have the capacity to learn and grow.
