I recently attended a meeting on drug abuse where the speaker focused on sensitizing the youth to be cautious of abuse. The speaker gave a personal experience because he was a victim of drug abuse, which made him shed even tears. He gave statistics on the number of youths affected by drugs as one reason he was talking to young people about the issue. The speaker also stated how drugs like cocaine affect the brain and the general functionality of the body. The situation relates to the rhetorical triangle where his personal experience represents pathos, the statistics he gave represents logos, and the effects of the drugs on the body represent ethos.

Strategies in the planning stage of a writing process.

Strategies of writing are essential because they determine the final output of the writing. One of the steps of to think and decide about the topic of interest to be written to ensure there is full understanding. The next step is researching to ensure that there is enough information to write about. It is also essential to draft points that will be put down on the paper to avoid confusion and enhance flow in writing. The other strategy is finding a conducive environment to write to avoid any distractions. The strategy will make writing interesting and ensure the goals of the writing are met.

How to make the thesis statement an effective part of an essay.

A thesis statement is a sentence that states the main idea of a piece of writing and helps to control all the ideas presented. To ensure that the thesis statement is effective, it is essential to state the topic and express one main idea (Weida et al., 5). The statement should be supported by facts while stating the position about the issue to be addressed. It is vital to show a reason for the side taken because it acts as the basis of the whole paper.
