Essay

At the Cleveland Clinic, licensing and regulatory factors have a positive impact on health care delivery requirements at the institution. Overall, this organization has many quality improvement initiatives in place and licensing and regulatory factors helps the hospital be sure that all health care professionals meet the knowledge and safety requirements provided by the state for practice. In addition, regulatory factors are set forth by the hospital to ensure that ethical care is provided to patients. A breach of this licensing and standards would prevent a health care professional from being able to practice, which is beneficial because this helps support patient rights.

In the current economic state, there is a shortage of nurses and doctors due to the expenses related to training. Therefore, it is possible that licensing and regulatory factors will be altered to address these needs. This is detrimental because it could potentially lower the quality of the health care employee to meet staffing needs. It is therefore important to determine an alternative solution to this problem to ensure that care is not compromised as a result.

On the national level, investments by biotechnology companies and other organizations are impacting competition and therefore pricing initiatives. As these organization make further technological development, hospitals will become pressured to acquire these technologies to make sure that they are able to provide cutting edge care. On the local level, this is making care less affordable for the average patient and costs are rising for health care institutions as well. As a consequence, quality will be impacted because the growing costs of health care mean that costs must be cut to compensate for innovation. Cutting staff is one reasonable, yet detrimental, response to this problem. It is important to preserve quality of care in light of changing economic stability.
