Corporate Social responsibility: On page 1 of the case “Campbell Soup Company: From The Farm To The Family,” it is apparent that corporate social responsibility is critical for Campbell Soup. Through the company’s “Nourishing Our Neighbors” corporate social responsibility programs, Campbell Soup is highly recognized for making a progressive impact in the communities, marketplace, and workplace. Campbell Soup believes that a company’s performance should not only be based on its financial performance but also its commitment to sustainability and corporate social responsibility. Campbell is a good corporate citizen who focuses on nourishing the consumers without compromising on the taste of its tastes and quality of its products.
Leadership
Transformational Leadership: On page 8 of the case, Campbell Soup’s role as a food and beverage leader in corporate social responsibility was illustrated by the company’s decision to hire Dave Stangis as the Vice President, Corporate Social Responsibility, and Sustainability in 2008. Stangis was a transformational leader as he inspired followers to surpass their individual interests for the good of the company. Stangis had an extraordinary impact on the company’s followers, who responded with increased commitment levels. He focuses on the needs and concerns of individual stakeholders, changes the stakeholder’s awareness of issues by assisting them in viewing old problems in new ways, and inspires them to put extra efforts to accomplish group objectives.
Motivation: From Concepts to Applications
Employee involvement and participation: From page 9 of the case, it is clear that Campbell Soup is committed to advancing employee involvement and participation in corporate social responsibility and sustainability. The inclusion of corporate social responsibility in the company’s strategic plan has evolved into a continual CSR development leadership network that includes business leaders and all employees with clarified priorities (Ghazzawi, & Palladini, 2012). The company has also accomplished world-class worker engagement and improvement of its inclusion and diversity culture. The enhanced levels of employee engagement at Campbell were directly connected to increased sales, client loyalty, and worker productivity.
Foundations of Group Behavior
Diversity: On page 9 of the case “Campbell Soup Company: From The Farm To The Family,” it is apparent that Campbell Soup has adopted a culture of diversity and inclusion. Campbell Soup considers workplace diversity by hiring members with differing opinions and values to enable members to be more open-minded about their opinions. The individual behavioral, emotional, and cognitive state of individuals within a diverse team can result in the desired organizational outcomes. Many decisions in the company are made by communities, teams, and groups. Diversity brings in new experiences and ideas, and employees can learn from one another. Bringing different perspectives and ideas results in better problem-solving and promotes creativity.
Organizational Culture
Culture and Sustainability: From page 12 of the case “Campbell Soup Company: From The Farm To The Family,” it is clear that Campbell Soup’s organizational culture includes the corporate social responsibility and sustainability as key aspects to advance global nutrition and wellness, establish a more sustainable environment, and honor the company’s role in the community from the farm to the finished products. The positive organizational culture enhances employee engagement, creates positive social impacts, enables operational efficiency, reduces costs, fosters innovation, strengthens relationships with the consumers, and creates a long-term competitive advantage for the company (Robbins, & Judge, 2017). A crucial attribute of a sustainability strategy at Campbell Soup is the company’s structure of governance. The organization acquired its success from the ability of its leaders to address the changing roles of businesses regarding strategy, social responsibility, and ethics.
