Organization’s profile
Boeing Company is an American defense corporation and multinational aerospace. The Boeing Company came into being when William Boeing decided to pursue opportunities with the Northwest timber industry. The initiative grew into a small airplane company that dealt with manufacturing. The technology group of the company helps it by providing product aircraft information about Douglas Aircraft, Boeing, and McDonnell Douglas (Campbell et al. 4). The technology services of the availability researches the availability of markets and facilities. It also researches the chances to market to a host of customers in many countries and industries. The company in realizing the increasing number of customers has become reliant on technology to stay in touch. Competition has forced the company to venture into e-business to become successful in the sector.
Analysis of the e-business system
The company offers an optional e-enabled business system assessment services. This will enable them to prepare for implementation of e-enabled services as well as products. The assessment allows the airline to gain understanding of current system capabilities. With the knowledge, the airline can create and implement plans that will help resolve issues (Rencher 21). They will hence be able to take advantage of e-enabled products and services. The manufacture and assembly involves a number of processes that are organized in a network of merging and concurrent flows. The processes are organized into networks of work. The work centers are staffed with employees with different responsibilities. The operations performed vary from input to output, which is achieved through integration of work centers.
The Boeing Company has an in-service data program database to track routine performances. The databases are utilized to perform analyses. Data is used to compare functional test results with failure results and actual in-service removal results. The databases are used to understand in-service and airplane performance as well as resource allocations. Data is utilized to identify component problems. This means that the company becomes more proactive with stakeholders to solve problems instead of using corrective action. The program allows the company to provide better support to members. This is made possible by the ease in locating and resolution of issues specific to each operating unit (Kneuer 20). The airline companies are enabled to securely share with other companies fleet wide reliability data. Networks in the company between processes and people enable circulation of important data. Quality is ensured especially in the products and services delivered. Adequate information and data about products and services are obtained to ensure production of desired and up to standard results. Results are often customer-oriented and performance is measured to ensure reliability and reduction of operation costs.
Evaluation of the system
Airlines have continued to look for inefficiencies in all aspects of operations. E-business is therefore being implemented at an increasing pace. The systems architecture enables the company to efficiently and effectively implement as well as maintain integrated business systems (Rencher 15). The result is an improvement in the technical dispatch reliability as well as in the reduction of operation and maintenance costs. Operational efficiency needs system integration throughout the operations of the airline. The e-enabled system environment will integrate real time data with maintenance planning systems of the airline. Operations of the airline create real time performance data that will be directed to the reliability and maintenance planning system of the airline. The company is effective in that it delivers value through higher safety and efficiency, reduced operating costs, improved customer experience and better operations and resource utilization (Rencher 17). Optimal operational efficiency will be achieved through ground information systems and integrated air.
Design and implementation of a system proposal
Companies that employ technology are unlikely to deal with organizations that have failed to create or develop e-business capability. The design and implementation of system proposals vary among organizations (Walker et al. 2). The proposal will mainly include improvements to the existing system since they have already established an e-business system. My recommendations will include inclusion of diverse data types and information owners. The diversity will create challenges in terms of integration of technology into the airline operations. The proposal is feasible since the company has different systems with which data will originate. The information will then be shared within the operational areas. The life cycle will facilitate management of data and operations in a bid to ensure smooth and efficient management. The company could also employ organizational integration, which means streamlining of functions and decision-making structures. This will benefit the company since it will boost the value, in addition to, reduce cost.
