Participants

The experiment involved a total of 51 participants. Of these, 41 were female, while 1o were male. Owing to the fact that the experiment was partly done online, the participants’ ages could not be determined to facilitate an in-depth analysis. However, due to the fact that al the participants were undergraduate, most of them are presumed to be between the ages of 18 and 25 years. However this presumption cannot be applied in data analysis.

Apparatus

The experiment was conducted in an online environment. This required the use of a computer to conduct and complete the experiment. The experiment entailed a number of visual demonstrations and stimuli. The first trial involved the image of a diver in a large water body, presumably a lake. The second trial entailed the picture of a mountain just beyond a tree line.

Variables

The experiment entailed a two dependent variable, which were the image that was flashed continuously and the single aspect about the picture that changed. One independent variable was involved and this was the number of clicks an individual could make.

Procedures

The participant would experience a feeling of tension as they would attempt to identify the correct aspect of the image that was changing while keeping in mind the time consumed to complete this task. The experiment played an important role in helping identify changing colors. The measurements for this experiment were recorded on two levels. The first was the amount of time a participant takes before clicking on a given area on the picture. The second was the number of times the participant clicked before they got the correct answer. The distance between each time the participant clicked was also recorded.

Results

The data generated from the results of the experiment produced varied results. Most of the students could complete the task in under 30 seconds. 41 of the students could complete the tasks in under 30 seconds. For those who finished the tasks in over 30 seconds, they attempted the task an average 3.7 times. Those who completed the task between 20 to 29 seconds made an average of 4.1 attempts before getting it correct. For those participants who completed the tasks within 10 to 19 seconds attempted an average of 3.1 times to get it correct. For those participants who attempted the tasks in under 10 seconds, made an average of 3.1 attempts to get the correct result.

The data depicts a total average time of 19.88 seconds taken by all participants to complete the tasks. They made an average 3.32 attempts before getting the correct answer. The data also depicts a standard deviation of 18.074.
