The chapter opens with Browder, who is on a mission to learn how to trade securities in Russia is defending himself from the allegation leveled against him by Salomon that he was trading securities within the investment banks. He is quick to defend himself that he was just figuring out how securities are traded. On the trading floor, a rather confused Browder is meted with arrogance while attempting to secure a seat. An attempt to call Bobby to lament that nobody is willing to give him a desk is rudely rejected when he is told that he is in Russia to invest not to look for desks. Once in Moscow, the rush to buy vouchers starts and in a week’s time, Salomon manages to purchase $25 million vouchers. Later, the vouchers are invested through a voucher auctions to Russian companies. Browder manages to master the art of trading vouchers, and in some cases, profits would double or triple, and the company would secure a sizeable return.

With time, Salomon would realize huge profits of $100 million, and the media would capture it on the newspaper making billionaires, and other interested parties to show interest in the Russian stocks. By now, Browder is a hero on the trading floor, and he even has a desk. He is on demand as top salespersons approach him to meet with high-ranking client, and during this period, he is cruising in major towns across the world. Following presentations in various cities, he captures the eyes of high-ranking investors and realizing there are many sharks willing to bring down what he had built for a long time, Browder decides to quit employment and head back to Moscow to start his own investment company.
