Codes of Ethics and Standards for Professional Nursing Practice, Essay Example

Pages: 2

Words: 616

Essay

Although every RN in the United States takes the same licensing exam (NCLEX-RN), each state is charged with the licensing of nurses and the creation of law and rules to govern nursing practice in that state. Locate the Nurse Practice Act (or nursing law) for your state, and investigate one of the following issues: delegation by the RN to the unlicensed assistive personnel, use of the term nursing diagnosis, patient abandonment (refusal of an assignment), or requirements for continued licensure (practice, continuing education, or others). Tell us what your state’s (Virginia) law says on this issue and how this impacts your practice (OR/PACU RN). Who knows the purpose of a State Board?  So, what surprised you about your state’s Nurse Practice Act? What do you think about the multi-state compact?

The Virginia Nurse Practice Act practically follows a particular sense of attention on community service and attention to the needs of the vulnerable members of the society. This course of indication on the primary mandate on how the nurses should act upon their sworn responsibility strongly invokes a better sense of indication on how the said professionals ought to make a definite indication on how they make a difference in the community. This part of the nurse’s practice act did not surprise me at all especially that it is focused on creating a more definitive impact on how the nurses are able to make an insistence on how the world could be changed through the efforts of healthcare practitioners who are serious enough with their duties. What makes nurses rather important for the society is the fact that they are able to serve as complementary workers who are able to provide what the public needs from the especially when it comes to establishing a much stronger foundation for the healthcare operations that make their roles even more effective in making changes in the lives of the people and the systems existing in the community to sustain a good and satisfying life for all.

Codes of ethics and standards for professional nursing practice have been developed by some professional nursing organizations. These codes and standards guide us in our practice and our interactions with consumers, other nurses, and other healthcare professions. Select at least one of the ethical standards or one of the standards of practice and tell us how you implement this in your current practice or how you will implement it in your future practice. Which standard is most challenging to you, and why?

The most challenging part of the code of practice among nurses is the recognition of particularly important ethical measures that are dedicated towards assuring that the responsibilities taken into account are properly handled thus making a great impact on how the needs of the public are duly given attention to. This part of the code challenges me to be more concerned about the values given high regard by my patients. Respecting them fully is what I think I should work on in the future especially in dealing with particularly complicated issues.

Seeing how the value of ethical considerations create a massive impact on how nurse-to-patient relationship is established, I should be more concerned on how I establish a new sense of understanding especially on how I am able to make a mark on the ways by which I create a more distinct sense of mark on the way I complete my responsibilities for the public. I would love to do something more for my fellowmen and I do think that being a nurse places me at a rather considerable position allowing me to embrace such form of personal and professional function.
