Company Social Responsibility, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 310

Essay

The CEO together with the other stakeholders is not only investors in the company, but also posses the voting power that serves to influence the social and financial impact of the company in many ways. Consequently, they hold social responsibility to both the employees and the community that lives close to the company location. Here, they are called upon to consider more than just the company’s interest when capitalizing in their influence to carry out the company’s goals.

For this reason, the CEO should not give in to the idea of merging as its long-term impact to the various parties is far reaching. First, such a move will mean compromising the company long standing policy on social responsibility at the expense of the stakeholder’s selfish gains. Bearing in mind that this is the reason behind the company’s good performance, the company products will likely fail to make impact in the future. This may be even pushed further if the stakeholders of the newly amalgamated company tend hold different policies.

Good policies should not major on financial gains while subjecting the employees to a state of losing their jobs. Secondly, the company is at its best and there is no strong reason to why they should consider merging. These CEO needs to consider the employees outstanding performance that has given the company the good name. . This merger has the potential to limit the company’s ability to serve multiple markets, hinder its product diversification, or create other problems. For this reasons, the CEO together with the other stakeholders must think on strategies that will focus on long-term gain and expansion of the company.

In conclusion, it is ethical that if the company stakeholders push for profits, they also advocate for employee satisfaction. This is because the company’s image among the employees and the community plays an important role in ensuring it realizes its goals.
