Job summary and mission
This job position contributes to the success of Starbucks by assisting the store manager in performing store duties. The person is responsible for supervising and assisting a team of store partners to create and maintain the Starbucks Experience for our partners and customers. The candidate is responsible for acting and modeling according to the company guiding principles.
Key responsibilities
- Communicate concisely, clearly and accurately to ensure effective operations of the store. Responsible for filtering communication from the store manager to the shift team
- Maintains consistent and regular punctuality and attendance
- Engages in communication with customers to understand the needs of the customer and the community in which the store is located.
- Positive contribution to team environment by recognizing changes in partner performance and morale, and communicating these to the store manager.
- Demonstrates honesty, integrity, and knowledge that auger well with values, culture and mission of Starbucks. Strive to keep operations of the store to standard and set a positive example to the team members.
- Reviewing key business indicators and store environment to identify areas of concern, problems, opportunities for growth in order to identify and provide training and direction to the shift team to attain operational goals. Communicating findings for broader areas of improvement.
- Supports the functions of the store manager in implementation of programs by working with shift teams to implement action plans that meet organizational and operational objectives
- Acts as mentor and coach to shift team through assessing performance, delivering feedback and conducting required coaching, and recommending employment decisions effectively to the store manager
Qualifications

- Customer service experience in a restaurant or retail environment (1 year)

Assistant Restaurant Manager
Job Summary
Organize, plan, and coordinate the workers and resources of the restaurant for well-prepared, efficient, and profitable service of food and beverages.
Tasks and duties
- Supervise operations of the operations of the coffee restaurant to maximize profitability, minimize legal liability, and conform to regulations of beverage regulations.
- Work with chefs and other personnel in planning of menus that is popular with customers and flavorful. Work with chefs for efficient purchasing and provision of supplies. Estimate beverage and food costs.
- Work with other management personnel to plan advertising, marketing, and any other special functions of the restaurant.
- Scheduling of beverage and food service personnel
- Supports the functions of the restaurant manager in implementation of programs by working with shift teams to implement action plans that meet organizational and operational objectives
- Investigate and resolve customer complaints concerning service delivery quality.
- Demonstrates honesty, integrity, and knowledge that auger well with values, culture and mission of Starbucks. Strive to keep operations of the store to standard and set a positive example to the team members.
- Enforce sanitary practices for general cleanliness, handling food and beverages, and maintenance of dining areas and kitchen.
- Comply with health and safety regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by senior management.
Qualifications
Summary of experience
- A bachelor of Business degree in hotel/restaurant management is desirable. A combination of education and practical experience will be considered as an added advantage

The salary schedule indicates the minimum, midpoint, and maximum pay for employees in different job positions. The minimum pay applies to newly recruited person and this increases with individual performance and length of stay. The salary range also applies to different locations in which the company has stores.
As in the case with most retail chains in the US, Starbucks has no plans of increasing salaries in 2012. The firm is discussing potential revision with the workers union on an agreement that will extend the agreement through the end of 2013. Under the established pay rate for the restaurant manager and the store manager personnel, both can receive maximum raise of $5,000 based on merit and cost of living. Some employees in other departments will however not receive a pay raise. Salary increase will be based on tentative merit after job appraisal of the candidate after completing the probation period.
