Description of Event’s Destination
Almost half a century ago, Dubai was a desert. Today, a desert has turned into the world’s most modern city full of stunning architecture, flourishing business activities driven by immense technology and disruptive innovation. Dubai has become a case study of many aspiring nations due to its infrastructure advancement and use of technology solutions on a day to day operations. Today, it is considered as the most futuristic city on our planet.
The ideal destination chosen to hold the event is Burj Al Arab, a 7-star hotel located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Burj Al Arab is one of the most iconic hotels on the planet thanks to its exceptional architecture, excellent services, world-class dining, and private beach. Situated in its own island, the hotel features massive suites overlooking sea – refined luxury with specular Dubai city and sea views. It is the globe’s landmark of architectural innovation. Burj Al Arab is the home of cutting-edge engineering sitting on a man-made island with infinity pool terraces. Due to these features, the hotel is a perfect destination for meetings and events and an ideal place for the company to bring their employees together for a team building.
A questionnaire tool will be used to collect data from the participants. Each questionnaire will consist of different questions, both closed-ended and open-ended, and will be developed with reference to holidaymaker decision-making aspects as established in Hsu et al. (2009) and Mutinda and Mukaya (2012). These questions will be structured in such a way they will cover several criteria ranging from employees feedback on the perception of the entire event such as venue setting, food, rooms, extra events, the accuracy of services offered by the hotel, cleanliness, preferences, motivational factors, staff’s behavior and attitudes. Some of the questions will use Likert scale criteria to gauge staff response. They will also be allowed to provide their insights, suggestions, and recommendations about the event. A survey method will be used to distribute questionnaires both on-site (after the event) and through online platforms.
Several statistical analysis tools will be used to analyze the collected data. Data will be processed by IBM SPSS software. Additionally, a Mann Whitney U test will be used to compare statistical levels of significance between two independent variables, while the Kruskal Wallis H test will also be used those of more than two groups of independent variables. Cronbach’s Alpha test will be used to test reliability questions. Ethical considerations regarding the personal, private, and confidential information will be put into account throughout the research. Employees will complete informed consent prior to filling the event feedback evaluation form. They will be informed about the reasons for and contributions of their feedback. They can withdraw whenever they want to, without any consequences. They will be guaranteed anonymity and protection of their private and personal information.
Presentations
Infographics
After the analysis is completed, the information from the evaluated forms will be disseminated in using infographics. They are often used as visual presentations of data or information to express complex content to the audience in a manner of enhancing their comprehension. Infographics have increasingly become a staple of communication in different areas such as classrooms, conference rooms, and across websites. In addition to making complex data or information easy to comprehend, infographics also offer a quick overview of presented content, summarizes a report, explain complex processes, and quickly to grab the attention of the viewer or audience.
Quantitative infographics will be used to convey statistical information to the audience in a clear, quick, and simple way that they can understand. Quantitative infographics contain elements such as charts, graphs, and tables. They are often seen on notice boards to convey information to workers and visitors. They are also used by dieticians to show cooking procedures or processes. They combine pictures with data to compress vast amounts of information into understandable visual presentations in limited space. Infographics are very effective and efficient because they communicate key information. For example, readers living a busy and fast-paced lifestyle have limited time to read and interpret data; hence, infographics offer innovative ways to express information in simple terms. This way, they can grab readers’ attention and maintain their focus. Interactive product infographics are widely used because of their potential to engage the audience. A presentation is conveyed based on the readers’ choice. The visual simplicity makes it easier for the audience to comprehend the information being delivered. In statistics, tools such as pie charts and bar graphs are used in summarizing complex data and convey information in a simplified and understandable form. For example, if the manager wants to present survey results, quantitative infographics offer a plethora of visualizations that can be utilized to convey data. They help the presenter tell a story behind the conveyed data. Quantitative infographics are effective because they focus on simplifying data and conveying it in the form of layouts and visuals that are understandable to the readers. By combining colorful signs and attractive fonts, they quickly draw the attention of the readers. Thus, infographics will be vastly useful in conveying data or information in graphical designs. Different visuals designs are combined with data to convey a simplified, clear, and understand the message, which is easier for the audience, viewers, and readers to understand.
Prezi
Presentation tools are used to create presentations, information points, multimedia products, and quizzes. Apart from MS PowerPoint and MS Word, data from event evaluation can also be presented by software known as Prezi. Prezi is a web-based platform that is used to create presentations. Prezi similar to PowerPoint only that it does not use slides but presentations known as prezis. The software makes use of its large canvas, which allows the user to pan and zoom parts in the canvas during the presentation of created ideas. The software is designed in a manner it supports text, videos, pictures and offers a wide-range collection of templates that the presenter can choose from to accustom the interface.
Instead of using pages or slides, Prezi utilizes a canvas-based method. With one large canvas, the presentation moves around zooming and out given frames as you present and emphasize on the ideas. Similar to Keynote or PowerPoint, Prezi is free to use and all features to create and share dynamic presentation is available. The tool does not have compatibility issues like MS PowerPoint since it is run in a web browser and looks the same no matter the computer or operating system chose to view it on. Some of the features in Prezi include designed templates that users can use the presentation attractive (Prezi). The transition is unique as frames with information and ideas pan and zoom in and out. One of the unique major things that make me choose Prezi is that fact that it helps create and track beautiful interactive presentation for health-related information. Ultimately, Prezi is a unique presentation and interactive learning tool.
Personal Reflection
In summary, communication in its numerous forms permeates every aspect of today’s life. From job interviews, product presentations, public events to meetings and conference calls, it has increasingly become important to develop excellent interpersonal communication skills to be an effective speaker who can inspire, motivate, and persuade other people. I have understood that communication and punctuality are critical factors for teamwork to succeed. Communication fosters member engagement and productivity to achieve team excellence. Effective communication is needed in group work for many reasons. First, it helps create strong relationships among group members. Fundamentally, it builds trust and understanding among the individuals working in the same place. In a group work that is focused on meeting certain goals, effective communication is vital since it conveys positive and constructive feedback among the group members. Also, it opens channels for ideas and new information that can help the group succeed in its assignment (Hersey, Blanchard, & Johnson, 2007). Therefore, for the next assignments and group work, I would like to team up with students that are ready to work as a group, not as individuals — working individually in group work, as shown to yield poor results due to lack of organization, coordination, and communication. As a student in the business field, I need to learn to work as a team member since this is an essential requirement in the current business world. Organizations want employees who can work in teams to produce better results
