Conflict Management for Managers, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 284

Essay

Problem-solving for one, PS1 is a process involving six stages that is managed by professionals in HR acting as facilitators of PS1. The stages involve the following:

  • Party greeting along with process introduction
  • Statement of the problem(s)
  • Conflict analysis
  • Options generation along with cost alternatives
  • Communication strategy development
  • Plan review

As a coach most beneficial, it is imperative that the stages are followed so that the process of making a decision is significantly delayed so that an enhanced perspective of prevailing problem is identified. The relevant parties in this process must sustain the ownership of the plans and a greater comprehension of the prevailing conflict is achieved hence effective management of the conflict is also achievable (Raines, 2013).

Conflict analysis, options generation & cost alternatives and communication strategy development are three elements that are at the core of PS1 process. Conflict analysis involves dissecting the conflict leading to a better understanding of the dynamics surrounding the conflict hence establishing a better perspective (Raines, 2013). Perception of a conflict nature is a problem that parties face occasionally. Therefore, breaking down the problem offers a greater capacity of investigating the problem.

Options and costing involves development of a variety of potential options through brainstorming. Options may come in an extremely broad range. If the options have a big range, both parties are likely to benefit because identification of solutions is equally achievable. Identification of potential options leads to development of cost-benefit analysis that should take in account the participation of both parties.

Communication strategy development involves examination of communication strategies that are applicable in the implementation of identifiable alternatives. The strategies employed must be within the parties’ skill range.
