Conflict Style, Essay Example

Essay

The conflict styles as presented in the conflict styles inventory usually varies depending on applicable situation. The five conflict styles involve compromising, accommodating, collaborating, Competing and avoiding. Compromising is the conflict styles that best describe my preferred style because it is marked by the willingness to come to an agreement through making superficial concessions and bargaining. The reason why I give first priority to compromising is because the use of concessions and bargaining as conflict styles leads to settling on a common agreement that is suitable to both parties (Raines, 2013). My secondary conflict style involves accommodating. I highly value this as my secondary conflict style because it involves is a situation that parties are involved in cooperation leading to one party giving in and agreeing with the demands of the other. Although the outcome of a particular situation must favor the party that is ready to agree to the demands of the other, the end result is that an agreement is reached at last. It is naturally acceptable that most common situations offer higher benefits to some people, more than others and any parties in conflict must appreciate this as a fact.

I have successfully applied superficial concessions your conflict style as a compromising conflict style in business transaction leading to I and my rival party coming to an agreement. Conflicts arising in business transactions was thus solved through compromise due to the understanding that time and money was at the center of the agreement for both of us, thus require a democratic approach.

The use of compromising as a conflict style has prevented me from engaging in violent confrontation with my rivals in business because it is usually democratic and posits to achieve the willingness of concerned parties to come to an agreement through making superficial concessions and bargaining.
