Critical Thinking Method, Essay Example

Pages: 2

Words: 548

Essay

The common critical thinking strategies I used are breaking the problem down into manageable parts, laying out potential solutions and choosing the best approach to implement the solution. In breaking down the problem into manageable parts, I analyzed the problem including learning as much as possible about the problem. I also looked beyond the obvious elements of the problem and stretched my imagination for more creative options. I then laid out the possible solutions to the problem including the merits and demerits of the available solutions. The considered solutions were categorized according to effectiveness and attainability. After laying out the possible solutions to the problem and providing the merits and demerits of the solutions, I choose the best option to relate in order to solve the problem.

The implementation of the solution is also another strategy that was particularly essential in the situation. The effectiveness of the strategy adopted, and that of the options available can only be realized through the implementation of the best option for the situation. In applying these strategies, I learned that a problem can have many solutions and that the choice of the correct option lies in applying critical thinking strategies in finding solutions. I enjoyed the critical thinking strategies mainly because the exercise was challenging I was able to apply the strategies effectively and come up with an appropriate solution. Moreover, the situation gave me the opportunity to test my critical thinking strategies in finding solutions in real life situations. The application of theoretical aspects of problem solving in a real situation was also an achievement that I enjoyed in the situation.

The strategies I adopted were satisfactory since they resulted in an appropriate solution to the situation. The process also gave me an opportunity to apply critical thinking strategies to a real life situation. All the strategies I used were successful. The choice of strategies to use in the situation was straight forward, and the situation was not very complicated or involved a lot of details. The simplicity of the problem also assisted in the success of the strategies adopted. The strategies used were also successful because I had knowledge on how to apply critical thinking strategies to problem solving. Additionally, I choose to use only a few strategies in order to reduce the task of applying multiple strategies and increase the work necessary to apply the strategies to the situation. The application of the strategies to the situation, therefore, did not take a lot of time since the aspects addressed by the strategies were less.

The strategies adopted only analyzed the situation, found solutions to the situation, and applied the best solution to solve the problems. The process only involved three steps. All the strategies used worked well with each other and resulted in finding the right solution. I would use these strategies again in finding solutions to problems since they were effective. Although the specific strategies used in this situation were effective, I will consider experimenting with different strategies in future situations. The choice of a strategy that is appropriate depends on the situation. Some situations may need a different strategy from the one I used. When a situation requires a different strategy it is proper to adopt that strategy to ensure an appropriate solution to a situation is reached.
