Discuss possible explanations as to why the crude mortality rate is lower in Haiti than in the United States

Possible explanations for the lower crude mortality rate in Haiti as compared to the United States could be divided into social lifestyle and socio-economic factors. In the case of the former, a general assessment of the specificities of American culture as opposed to Haitian culture could be relevant: For example, nutritional choices on the part of the consumer in the US may be more conducive to health problems; furthermore, the prevalence of crime-related deaths in the US could contribute to the index. In the case of the latter, the demographic shift in the United States towards a more aged population may also explain the amount of deaths, as the quality of health care permits more citizens to live longer, such that an aged populace would affect this high crude mortality rate.
