Introduction
Littlefield Laboratories is a high tech extremely automated hematological samples examination lab. The samples are reviewed by applying a disposable examination kit. The examination kits are received from a purveyor and are warehoused in a buffer. The examination process is composed of four steps which are achieved art three depots. One of the hematological examination departments is the sample preparation area.
Another hematological examination area is the review area. The final hematological examination area is applied for centrifuging the samples. The hematological samples are derived from clinics and hospitals and are deemed customer orders. The initial phase is composed of associating each sample with an examination kit which had been retrieved from the buffer. . The two components of the examination kit and the blood sample are referenced as one job.
Subsequently, the blood is introduced into test tubes which are prepared for the examination procedure. This aspect of the task is fulfilled at the sample p preparation station. The job is transferred to the examination depot where the fundamental reviews are performed on the hematological sample in the second step. In the third phase, the hematological sample is placed into a centrifuge and exposed to centripetal force in order to cause the separation of the blood cells and the plasma. At the end of the procedure, the job is returned to the examination depot for supplementary reviews and the outcomes are returned to the client.
The final rank and position of the warrior 007 team was seventeenth and the cash balance which had been accrued was $19, 839. The team strategy on day sixty three had been to ensure that the supply of kits is replenished. One hundred and fifty hematological analysis kits were procured on day sixty three. In addition, there had been two contracts which had been procured. The station three machine accounting was performed on day seventy five.
On day one hundred and ten, one contract number had been fulfilled. In addition, on day one hundred and ten, a contract number with a value of one had been taken. Furthermore our team reached the point where it had been perceived that the kits once again had to be replenished on day number one hundred and twenty eight. The supply had been replenished with twenty four kits. In addition, on day number one hundred and twenty eight two contracts were received.
It had been perceived that additional examination kits would be needed. Consequently, one hundred twenty had been procured. The station 2 and 3 accounting was performed on day number one hundred and twenty eight. On day number two hundred and three, three contracts were received. The buffer storage examination kits had been perceived to be deficient and one hundred and eighty kits had been purchased on day number two hundred and three.
The amount of examination kits which had initially been ordered covered a substantial part of the customer orders.
The rationale which had been applied in ordering kits is that the machines would be operational twenty four hours a day and that it would be better to have a surplus of kits than to be deficient.
Machine Counts
The original trend setting analysis which had been conducted on day seventy five was adequate. At station three, the machine count value had been one.
The additional station machine counts for station two and station three would have been sufficient in order to effectively apply the number of kits that were on hand. As a result of the station two and station three machine counts, an additional one hundred and twenty kits had been reordered.
Machine Two Scheduling Perceptions and Policy
The station machine count had been taken on day seventy five. At that time station two machine accounting was not taken. The initial station two machine accounting had not been performed until day number one hundred and twenty eight.
Contract Choice
The original establishing analysis for the contracts which had been made was very conservative. At day number two hundred and three, our team became liberal with the contract selection. On day number one hundred and twenty eight, we took contract numbers which possessed a value of two.
Last Fifty Days
The strategy which had been applied for our team during the concluding fifty day period did not consider the inventory which had been on hand would not be depleted. The outcomes were that there had been a surplus of unused kits and 419, 837 on hand.
What could have been done differently is to have inverted the contact order. In the beginning our team should have accepted contracts which had been worth a value of three. This should have been followed by the contract which had the value of there. Our team had been over conservative with the number of contracts and too liberal with the number of kits required for inventory.
The over conservative aspect of our team with regards to the contracts and the liberal replenishing of the kits led our team to be in the final position in comparison to the other teams with regards to revenues.
The team had concluded the simulation with $1,804,000 in inventory. Considering that the cost of each kit is $600, this aspect infers that there had been over two hundred and fifty kits which had not been required to have been order. If the additional two hundred and fifty kits would not have been ordered, the cash on hand would have been increased by $1, 500,000. The graph which is marked as sources and origins and outflows of cash demonstrates the initial balance of $1,000,000. The revenues of $ 854, 411 are demonstrated in position two. The interest which had been received is marked at position 3 which was $ 49,428. The machine retirement had been assessed at $20,000 in position 4. At position 5, the machine purchases had been assessed at $100,000. The inventory which had been maintained was $1,804,000. The final cash balance was $19, 839.
