Background
The field of technology is quite intriguing. It’s fascinating to see how different technologies operate and what they have in common. It amazes me and strikes me as peculiar. It isn’t easy because it is so intricate that hardly everyone can use it without assistance. Identifying a system or technology’s vulnerabilities is difficult since every system or technology will have one. One of the reasons I originally wanted to work in cyber security could be due to this. I enjoyed programming in school, and that enthusiasm made me want to work in information technology. I decided to pursue a new profession in cyber security since it would put me in a position to develop my current talents while laying the groundwork for a successful future career. Computers and computing were the only things that consistently occurred. That’s when I decided to enroll in a quick Higher in Computing course to help me achieve this initial objective of my chosen professional path.
Thesis
Cybersecurity is a fantastic career to pursue now as there is a strong need for experts with these talents. Based on my research, I should stay on my current career path because it has many opportunities. There are opportunities in various sectors and specializations since businesses in every industry – from healthcare and banking to entertainment and retail – face cybersecurity concerns. It significantly contributes to our booming digital economy by protecting our vital national infrastructure, business, and other online areas,
Research Methods
Finding your professional path through research is a crucial first step in choosing a profession. A thorough awareness of the available opportunities can help you determine the best professional way. To decide whether or not to follow the cyber security career path. I searched online since I knew I could get information and articles from people in the field thanks to the rise of social media and blogging platforms.
One article I went through is “Guide to cyber security jobs,” which helped me analyze the profession’s demand. This manual has all the information required to familiarize yourself with the rapidly expanding cybersecurity employment market. As indicated by the suggestions, work unique opens doors for network protection experts like data security examiners will develop up to 31 percent over the decade (Liddle 1). When you consider it, it makes sense why cybersecurity employment is growing faster than usual. Because technology is becoming increasingly interwoven in everyone’s daily lives, there is a growing need for qualified cybersecurity specialists. Additionally, even if there are expected to be more job vacancies in the field of cybersecurity in the future, the shortage of qualified professionals has already begun.
I also went through the article “Career Path in Cybersecurity: How to Enter, Key Skills, Salary, and Job Description,” which described the career path, roles, and responsibilities, as well as the career progression in cybersecurity. According to the article, cybersecurity specialists assist companies from various sectors in enhancing their security posture and prevent or thwarting cyberattacks (Ashtari 1). This is crucial in the modern, digitalized corporate environment when a single data leak could permanently damage a company’s reputation and goodwill. Cybersecurity is a fantastic way for someone who wants to have a positive effect on their profession to do so. You’ll never feel like working on outmoded, pointless tasks while in cyber security. Cybercrime and cyber security are two fields that are continually changing. A big part of the job is keeping ahead of crooks. Knowing that your effort is assisting in preserving people’s livelihoods and privacy will make you feel good about your career. Work that keeps your mind active and challenges you to be alert may also bring you happiness. This is a crucial and fascinating field. I find the idea of defending the internet from thieves intriguing; therefore, cyber security may be the perfect career for me.
All my research confirmed that I am well equipped and suited to pursue this career path. I am talented. I have a strong intellect. I am also open to learning from others and don’t rely solely on my experience to fill out the function. I’ve shown a willingness to think creatively and to learn new things. I am analytical, curious, and a good communicator, among other qualities that make me a competent cyber security specialist.
Criteria for Determining Whether I Should Continue on my Current Career Path or Change
Employability
The fastest-growing skill sets in cyber security indicate how seriously businesses take the development of safe digital infrastructures. According to research on cyber security skills in the UK labor market conducted by the Department of Culture, Media, and Sport, between 30 and 48 percent of all enterprises in the country lack basic or advanced capabilities. Both technical and non-technical talents fall under this category (Sarker et al. 2). Threat assessment and information risk management, assurance, audits, compliance, and testing, cyber security research, the implementation of secure systems, governance, and management, as well as technical skills gaps, are all rather significant. According to 29% of cyber companies, a lack of managerial, leadership, and communication skills prevents them from achieving their business objectives.
Salary
We all want rewarding careers with competitive salaries, don’t we? With almost 100,000 open positions in cyber security, wages are rising across the board. A place in cyber security not only keeps your knowledge and skills current but also comes with a competitive compensation package. Whether you are technical or not, now is the best time to pursue a career in cyber security.
Job Satisfaction
Network protection specialists are said to have high work fulfillment rates; universally, 76% of network safety experts say they are content with their callings. There aren’t many professions where the vast majority report being content with their work. Most of us aren’t taught how to choose a fulfilling job path that makes us feel successful in school, and it can be a long trip.
Research Findings
Employability
The employability of a career is among the most crucial things to consider. The last thing you want to do is devote time, resources, and effort to a profession that won’t be in demand. One of the key advantages is that assuming you have network protection abilities, you’ll look good with managers. In my examination of the digital protection area, I found an extreme absence of capability, which powers organizations to contend ceaselessly for the best representatives. Half of the enterprises (680,000 companies), according to research by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) performed in 2022, lack basic technological abilities, while one in three lack advanced skills(Cyber Security Job Site 1). However, starting January 2019, 37% of all cyber job openings have proven challenging to fill. I discovered an increasing demand for more data breaches every year.
Salary
Through my research, I discovered other factors to consider while deciding on a career route besides money. In the simplest terms, pay is significant since most workers wouldn’t perform their duties without compensation. Equal pay for the specific task required is also crucial. While picking a profession you enjoy is vital, you also want to be sure you can support yourself financially. I’ve always believed that having more money equates to being happier. pected wage is a refl
Job Satisfaction
Employees who are happier at work—regardless of their job titles or salaries—are more productive and efficient at what they do. This is true whether they are more satisfied with the organizational culture, benefits, or recognition. Roles in cyber security have a meaningful influence, according to research. Being able to intervene and protect individuals and organizations from data breaches and other incidents is exceptionally gratifying because of how serious the repercussions may be. As a result, it should be no surprise that among all IT roles, cyber security specialists exhibit some of the most significant levels of job satisfaction. Even though six cybersecurity experts recognize that the field can be challenging, the research shows that 79 percent are happy with their job choice(Cyber Security Job Site 1). This devotion to the purpose despite the difficulties makes cybersecurity professionals remarkable. Network protection specialists act more like dedicated community workers than business or specialized specialists, stressing everyone’s benefit instead of individual acclamations. The probability is that I will get a new line of work in digital protection to be an exceptionally fulfilling method for having an effect since I appreciate working in a high-pressure setting and have a talent for puzzle-tackling and horizontal reasoning.
Future Outlook
There is no doubt that the job market is expanding and will do so in the future. A rewarding professional path in cyber security is available, with many opportunities for advancement and specialization. These positions offer an enhanced working climate where no two days are very similar, one of their key benefits. There will continuously be novel, new things to learn and issues to defeat in light of the digital risks that organizations should fight with continual change. Organizations are more susceptible to hacking and cyber-attacks now that there are more Internet-connected computers and communications in the world due to our global economy (Sava 1). Demand for cybersecurity is at an all-time high as businesses worldwide move to online and cloud data management. As a result, there is a higher need for cybersecurity experts that are knowledgeable about and talented in AI and data science.
Data breaches are predicted to be more common in 2031 than in 2021, which is terrible and terrifying. This presents a problem for those who choose this career path. The risk of a breach increases as more data and gadgets are made available online. The vast majority of open cybersecurity roles are another issue. You might think that the rich pay in the area would help to close the cybersecurity skills gap, but this is not the case.
In cybersecurity, ongoing professional growth is essential because threats are constantly changing. As all students serve as entry points into the widely defined cybersecurity workforce, we will observe an increase in cybersecurity content across the curriculum in the upcoming years. There are many ways
