  • If you did, have you ever discovered that you had engaged in a sexual encounter?
  • Do you want to remain in the relationship?
  • If you do, express your deepest concern.

Based on her assessment, what level of intervention is the nurse applying in caring for

Date rape is also classified acquaintance rape whereby the perpetuator is either romantically affiliated to the victim or just a mere friend. In this case it has been a romantic relationship. It is considered abuse/sexual battery when proven. The assessment process could be considered a primary intervention(Bond & Bond, 2004)…

Primary intervention denotes prevention of a disease or incident. The action is taken prior to occurrence. Primary can also mean reduction in further incidences defined as both the prevention of disease before it occurs and the reduction of its incidence. With reference to abuse it is any measure taken to prevent occurrence of date rape.Secondary intervention means targeting risk factors along with intervening when an incident has occurred(Bond & Bond, 2004).

For example if Christiania had expressed during the assessment that she was raped several times, the nurse would have to move into the second stage by devising strategies to treat effects of the abuse.Tertiary level intervention relates to if the date rape experience escalates into a chronic effects and Christiania would need rehabilitation to regain her self-worth  (Bond & Bond, 2004)..

Also, describe interventions at each of these levels.

Primary intervention

This requires adopting strategies to prevent date rape. For example, as health promotion professionals it is making an assessment of a case, which is at risk and advising the client as in Christian’s situation. At the community level primary interventions are aimed solely at preventing through education or creating a safe environment to limit incidences of the actions. On college campuses where date rape is prevalent it means college authorities implementing regulations that would limit alcohol abuse at parties and certain types of interactions that create the potential for a date rape incident(Bond & Bond, 2004)…

Secondary interventions

Further, more intense strategies are necessary. Some schools such as psychology and social work theorize a primary, secondary and tertiary levels of prevention. However, public health synchronizes the levels with health care delivery whereby secondary means implementing treatment after occurrence of disease or the person becomes infected/affected. In date rape it entails counselling, therapeutic repair, activities to build self-esteem and offer emotional support(Bond & Bond, 2004).

Tertiary level

At this level the client may need to be institutionalized to recover from the physical as well as emotional aftermath of the abuse. Specifically, this stage is aimed at limiting the extent the date rape has damage the personality. As such rehabilitation for a short period of time might be the preferred intervention strategy(Bond & Bond, 2004)..
