Death: Beliefs and Reactions, Essay Example

Words: 391

Essay

I was looking at her as she wore her blue wedding dress as my grandmother brushes her hair and my other aunt washes her feet. She was sitting in her favorite chair looking so beautiful and calm. However with all the wonderful scene I was looking at, I realized she smelled really bad at the time. My grandmother shoved me off upon seeing me and instructed me to stay away. I was not able to do nothing but to move far. My curiosity grew when my cousins told me that she was not sleeping, but she was also dead. It was my first time to see a dead person. I was a child and did not feel anything against death yet but the curiosity of what it actually looked like to have a dead person around.

What I did was to find a way to see if I could take a peek at the room. I found a little slit of opening in the door and tried to see what I could explore. I looked at my aunt as she sits in her chair. As I was looking through her face, I saw her eyes looked at me straight for a few seconds. Although I did not know much about dead people, I knew they were not supposed to do that so I skipped a bit making my grandmother notice me and push me aside again and instructed me to move away. I had no choice but to go.

As my cousins and I were talking, they mentioned to me that my grandmother was expecting for the person who killed my aunt as she was visited by my dead aunt when she was sleeping and was instructed that she wanted to be buried in her blue wedding dress and that the man who killed her would come by. As they waited, it was my uncle [my aunt’s husband] who came which everyone wanted to talk to and confirm if it was really him who killed my aunt. Several other sightings were told by my own mother saying that they had an encounter with my dead aunt. Nevertheless, up to this day, although the memories were vivid, it is still not clear to me whether or not a dead person could actually come back to life and ask for the justice that she deserves.
