Structure and purpose:  This would be described as a feature rich site.  The purpose is to inform the reader on the latest news and information applicable to information technology and business.  The site has an excellent navigation system including drop-down menus to subdivide between technology and business management interests.  The site will appeal to a range of IT professionals including those who seek latest information in the IT industry and news, job hunters, links  to other related sites, a range of white papers from its many contributions as.

Look and feel : the overall look and feel of the site is very positive.  Everything is very clear, easy to understand and easy to navigate.  Good social media inclusion with particular reference to links with Twitter, Facebook and linked in.

Useful Features: I find the subdivision between technology and management via the drop-down menu ‘All Topics’ to be one of the most useful navigation links on the site.  The list of white papers is particularly extensive and these can be accessed by topic in index order.  The most recent White papers are featured in abstract form at with the ability to immediately download the papers.

Other interesting features: the virtual isolation section is an interesting tab  to keep you informed on the latest news events.  It contains a wealth of information including the option to sign up for a monthly e-newsletter.  Some nice blogs including that by Bernard Golden.  I like the blog IT operators beware the cloud boomerang.  Great links to share the article comments in this article, follow social comments via  twitter etc.

Overall evaluation: this is a site that I have bookmarked and will most certainly return to again.  It offers up-to-date practical advice  and the ability to join a community of like-minded professionals.  It is a great place to build a network of technology practitioners and business managers.  I particularly liked the ease of navigation around the site and how this was sub-divided into my particular areas of interest.  The site was feature rich and heavy in content but did not lose any of its’ impact by obscuring this with bad choice of background colours or annoying pop up menus that I find particularly irritating and distracting when researching information.  The range of white papers and body of knowledge contained ally impressive and I was able to extract several articles of current interest.  A nice touch is the link to social networking sites where you are able to share information and equally join commentary reviews with other interested people.  One of the values of Linked in is the ability to join specific interest groups and follow up latest news and contributions over time.  New articles posted on the CIO site may automatically be inserted into your discussion group for dissemination and social comment.
