Defining the problem

The first stage in the process of decision making deals with identification of the problem that warrants solution (Robert, 1). This is the most important step in the entire process of decision making process thus the business management team must be keen in so that the other steps are successful (Robert, 1). Defining the problem also includes identification as well as diagnosing the problem while giving room for improvements.

Identifying options

There must be several alternative to make a choice from and the best approach in this regard involves separating the problem from its symptoms to achieve success in this step to facilitate effective identification of the best option.

Evaluation options

This step entails evaluation of available options based on the targeted situation. The objectives of the business must also be considered so that the issues of feasibility, desirability as well as acceptability of the chosen option are ascertained (Smriti, 1).

Choosing option

After exploration of preferred option and considering the possible implications in the future as well as the potential problems that are likely to occur, the best option is selected (David, 1). The risks associated with the option must also be accounted for. On successful consideration of the consequences, the viable option may be taken.

Implementing chosen option

Implementation of the chosen option involves planning, resource allocation, and determination of the position of colleagues as well as their commitments to support the decision (Robert, 1). The chosen option is therefore put in to action.

Evaluating result

The final stage in the process of decision making entails results evaluation (Robert, 1). This involves a careful reflection on the achievements that are attributed to the decision and plays a crucial role in learning important lessons that facilitates improvements in the future decision making capabilities.
