This is an Australian study that discusses the occurrence of microvascular complications in 1,604 adolescents with type 1 diabetes between 1990 and 2009 and details the prevalence of these complications, duration of the disease, and causes of such complications. This source would be useful in my literature review because it demonstrates successful management regimes and how to reduce the prevalence of negative outcomes for adolescents with type 1 diabetes.

This study identifies factors indicative of severe hypoglycemia (SH) and examines the use of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) to warn of its onset in a randomized clinical trial sample of 436 children and adults with type 1 diabetes. This source would be useful in my literature review because it supports the importance and value of home blood glucose monitoring, but it has limited usability because the participants included adults.

This study discusses the nature of the disease juvenile diabetes. The delivery of insulin through the nose is discussed and is considered as a superior treatment option, which is why this source would be useful in my literature review.

This source would be useful in my literature review because it provides statistical details regarding the incidences of the disease amongst the various age groups of children afflicted, which helps in developing treatment and prevention programs.

This will be a good addition to my literature review because it also talks about the goals of the JDRF and how the accomplishment of these goals can help children with juvenile diabetes.
